Career change to "Interior Design / Interior decorating" - Where to start?

I have always interested in Interior Design / Decorating and DH knows that moving furniture around is my best past time... I completed a Diploma at School of Colour and Design while working full time. My current career is in a completely different field.

Eventually I would like to start my own business but I thought to do it safely, I'd better get some experience working for someone else at least to get a feel of the industry. I am prepared to sarcrifice financially just but it seems I never seen any jobs advertised in the newspaper.

Where do I start? What kind of positions I should be looking or approach?

    Thanks for your help!

CP - I don't know the answer, but I think it's great you are exploring this. I'd love to do something more creative than what I currently do and interior design has always interested me in the abstract...although I have no idea if I'd be any good at it. If you want "practice" you can help me with our first owned home which we are moving into in 2 months.

Thanks Ammaki & Julie, that's a great encouragement, I might take up your offer ...

Well, I am not sure if I am good at it either, I guess that's another reason I don't want to dive into a business yet, what if I am totally crap at this!

The only testing ground is my place, but DH is an Librian, so he would never say any bad things, sth must be seriously wrong if he says 'No', hehe.... but at least my friends always like my taste and my home, she also offered to let me do her place once she is settled...I guess that is a good sign.

Julie, let me know if you need any opinion on anything and One 'point of difference' I can also offer is I am totally into Fengshui and how to energize each corner etc, so if you have a plan of your place, I can help you with some Dos and Don'ts...West sector of the house is related to fertility/descendant, so make sure you have positive energy there!

    Until next time girls....
