Is the bump supposed to be bouyant?

Hello! I feel like the new kid in school in the third trimester section.
I went swimming today for the first time in three months and it was HARD!
I've been sick (dengue fever) and haven't done any exercise for three months. But I found my legs dragging in the water. For some reason I thought the bump would make me more bouyant but I guess it's full of water and baby, not fat, so it's not actually bouyant.
Anyone got any ideas? Am I just out of condition? I thought I'd be slicing through the water like Australia Two and its winged keel.

You poor thing - I am so sorry to hear you've been sick

I found swimming really hard towards the end of my pg so did more floating which was nice...
For me it just made me more uncoordinated than usual (thats a hard thing to do )

I think because your centre of gravity changes when you are pregnant, and your posture naturally changes a little to compensate for the extra weight out front, that can make it a bit harder to swim like normal. I mean it stands to reason that carrying an extra few kilos out front will affect your balance and movement in the water. Plus being sick and not exercising for a while is probably part of it too - your body is probably still recovering. I am sure it will get easier the more you swim!
