when do i stop swaddling my baby.?

DS has been wrapped up since birth and is now 4 months old and still being wrapped up at night. he is sleeping for approx 5-8 hrs at length. how long should i continue to wrap him up. lately when he wakes up during the night or early morning he's usually got a hand free.
if i stop wrapping him up at night will he wake more often or in anyones experience does it not interfere. cheers

    IT depends on the baby.
DS1 I stopped wrapping at 5 months as he alway had his arms out and was happy to sleep that way. It took a bout a week for him to adjust.
DS2 I stopped after 4 weeks and there was no noticable difference to the lengths of his sleeps. He is in a sleeping bag now.

i stopped wrapping DD at 2 weeks. I didnt see a need for it and it was getting too warm and she co-slept. It made no difference to how long she slept.

All babies are different. Its hard to give u an answer.

I wrapped my DS til he was 6 months old until I slowly weaned him into a sleeping bag as he was getting too strong and his arms were always getting out!

Its really up to you, i stopped at about 6 months because ds kept getting out and waking himself up. it took him about 2 weeks to get used to it, he went straight in to a grobag and has loved it ever since.

Im struggling with this too. DS is 5 months but he seems to need wrapping even though he escapes!! DD2 was wrapped until she was nearly 1!!!

Weaning off swaddling - I wrapped DS, then put him in a sleeping bag (it was winter), then I wrapped with one arm out and tucked it into the sleeping bag. That was okay, then I tried tucking two arms into the sleeping bag. Eventually we weaned him off the swaddling over about 3 days. HTH!

I unwrapped and used a sleeping bag with both my girls - DD1 was at 4.5 months, DD2 was at 10 months!!! She had a VERY strong startle reflex and wouldn't relinquish the wrap until she was ready!
