Does anyone have a very "uncuddly" baby?

Just wondering if anyone else has a very uncuddly baby? DS is 8 months old and sometimes i think that maybe it is a developmental stage ( i.e asserting independance) but it makes me really sad. Ill pick him up and he will just twist and turn till i put him down, he has never really gone through the whole separation anxiety, last week was the first time he cried in someone elses arms and reached up to me when i came over. The only time i can sit with him is when i manage to rock him to sleep. Today i sat and got quite teary as he had fallen asleep in my arms and i found it so beautiful that i could just sit with him and feel him in my arms.

Im prob just being silly and should be happy that he is happy with other people and that i dont have to worry about him being clingy but sometimes i want to feel like dh and i are the most important people in his little life! At the moment dh and i feel like he likes everyone better than us ( i know thats silly)

For those who have independant little souls do they become a bit more cuddly as they get older? Is there something that we are doing wrong? Soemtimes i feel like he is just so busy!!

Jack has only just really started to cuddle me in the last couple of months (unless he was sick or very tired). He too, would squirm and wriggle and just want to be put down. he was definitely always just too busy to cuddle, LOL.

sounds exactly like my DS , he is so very independant , at first i thought it was me , but i realised it was just part of his personaltily . He is still like that and nearly 3 .
tonight he was so tired i held him and rocked him and sung nursery rhymes and he went off to sleep with a smile on his face never sits still or needs me around much , so i kwym how it brought tears .

My DD is the total oppostite , a major cling on

DD is 18 mths and she'll only really give cuddles if she has fallen and hurt herself or not feeling well. When we try to give her cuddles she'll also twist and turn - but always with a cheeky look on her face. We make fun out of it and pretend to wrestle with her lol!

I'm happy with the fact that if she is amongst strangers, until she warms to them, she comes running to me and tries to hide from them lol - so I know she loves and trusts me!

My DS2 was like that. He would never, ever sleep in my arms, or in bed with me (or DH), and picking him up when upset made him scream - it just wouldn't comfort him. He would go in the sling as long as I was moving but that's about the only way he tolerated being close. Now, he is the cuddliest child you could imagine. He loves sitting on my lap, cuddling people, kissing them - he's so affectionate. Although he still screams blue murder if I try to pick him up to cuddle him when he's upset!!

Hopefully you will find that your DS grow out of it too

This could have been writen about my son. Wasn't even cuddly as a newborn, he had such a strong neck that when i nursed him he would not even nuzzle into my chest like I expected/wanted him to!

He has never been clingly and would go to anyone.. Never fazed him if I left the room/house - at the time i just wanted him to cry so I knew/felt like he wanted me around. Now it's a blessing that he doesn't suffer from seperation anxiety. Actually he's atad to over confident we went to the races yesterday and he was happy to wonder the crowd of 1500 without giving a rats as to where I was - he looked cute and got heaps of attention boasted the ego - typical male!!!! OK back on topic......

He as only started to give me cuddles in the last month or so.. but I have to ask for them I say "Give mummy a cuddle" with my arms open and he will run into them. It's not a long embrace but it's something.. He does however snuggle up to me if I sit on the beanbag with a pile of books - so we read lots everyday so I get some contact not so much for the educational benefits HAHA!!!

Apparently I wasn't very cuddly as a baby and much to my DH's dislike I'm still that way

Do you know what you were like or could you find out what you were like as a baby?

My two are cuddly, but I'm thinking they get it from their Dad

Ps. Lachlan's Ticker pic is so gorgeous
