As DD has grown, I have found she is increasingly a baby of habits, and cries when things aren't exactly the way they "should" be. Sometimes I have found out this the hard way...for e.g. I couldn't work out why sometimes she would cry in her cot about 10 mins after being put down, until I realised she liked to touch the sides to go to sleep, and so she would go into her cot awake and happy and then would obviously try to get to sleep, but realising she couldn't reach the sides, would cry. Now we ALWAYS place her to one side.
Another one I just realised is her love of a little TV time just before bed. Since she was tiny I have always had the news on when I am changing her and feeding her before bed, but this week I have decided I watch too much tv and turned it off. Anyway last night and tonight DD would not go into her bed, so I turned on the news and we sat together cuddling until she squirmed and made that "I'm tired" noise, and then off to bed she went like a trooper.
Wow- you are really a tuned in mum to your bub picking up these habits! Good on you! I can't remember DD doing anything like this but given my sleep deprivation I wouldn't have noticed anyway!
Yes! DD1 was always on a strict routine as she was a premmie who needed to put on weight and then she was in a brace so she needed set play times with if off.
With DD2 we relaxed a bit but we soon noticed she was unhappy if her day changes. The biggest one is she hates wearing clothes, she has to be in a suit or she screams her lungs out, won't feed or sleep. She also gets unsettled if we have people over and her feeding times change or she is held by a lot of people. She also hates it when we go out, so we have become hermits. She slowly getting better especially now that we know about the clothes thing.
I know my little man isn't really a baby but I just had to reply as I have noticed he does some similar things... for instance our night time routine involves tea (with him in the high chair) then I run his bath and get him out of the high chair and he goes straight into the bath, well tonight we were a bit early and I thought I would let him play for a bit after tea, well as soon as I let him out of the high chair he was off to the bathroom door banging on the door getting all agitated as he was wanted into the bath
Then later our routine is pretty tight so it's bath, dried, dressed, nappy and then booby then dp puts him to bed but always gives me a kiss first... again we had a few minutes up our sleeves so we let him play, well he goes upto dp for a cuddle and then put his hands out to me for a kiss - we thought he was just playing so we put him down again and then he his walking around making snoring noises like I do when I pretend to be sleeping - soooo cute
