Oh, that sounds like a pretty crap experience! You poor thing!

I think you've made some good choices as far as all concerned. Especially as far as getting Tom to the MCG - the worst thing in all of this would be for him to lose out. And yeah, make sure he sees some adults behaving responsibly when you do take him, as well as at other times.

Hey, sounds like you are having a really rough time.

My hot tip for improving your relationship is to go walking together. Make a time, set aside an hour, and walk somewhere. No agenda, no expectations, just walk. Things might come up that you talk about, or you might just walk together. You don't have to hold hands, but you can, or whatever.
Someone recommended this to me, and I find it is SO good for our relationship - including the intimate side of it, which was unexpected. See if it works for you too.
