Now, my DD is turning 3 in November, and she hasn't had a birthday party yet! I thought it may be a good idea to throw her a good n' proper kids birthday party. I asked her what she wanted for her birthday party & she said "Robot"
btw... she has a fascination for robots that we.... ummm.... encourage
So she wants a robot party.
My ideas so far are
*a robot cake, which is easy peasy for me.
*box robot outfits... I have some cardboard boxes that I will cut arms and heads in. Have the kids decorate the boxes with aluminium foil and cupcake holders and cups... then put them on
*Robot race in robot costumes
What else??? We have a park 2 doors down, so we will have an afternoon party there. I am going to bring over a plastic table & chairs and heaps of rugs to spread out. I just want some original party ideas specific to robots, including snacks that can be made dairy free
Using theme music from "little robots" play musical robots (aka musical statues) and everyone has to dance like a robot and when the music stops they when they freeze they have to freeze like a robot... and the last person to freeze is out... This can also be done with Robot Pictures on paper and remove one picture each time the music stops, those not on a picture are out...
Robot treasure hunt. Make a big robot out of cardboard pieces... and hide them around the backyard when everyone finds all the pieces they can put the robot together. Have enough pieces for each child and attach a toy or treat to each piece for them to keep. Then when everyone has found their piece they can decorate it and help put the robot together.
Awesome! I want her birthday to be in the next few weeks now!!!
We are having it in the park because our lease runs out two weeks before, and I don't want to plan for somewhere like our house jic we aren't here! The park is huge, with no seating, but thats okay we have heaps of rugs and are bringing our plastic table & chairs over for the few who need seats.
I reckon a pin the switch on the robot will be fantastic! I can draw a huge big girlie robot that way...Maybe pin the antennae? hmmmm thinking that the switch could have adult connotations
Cai I love that idea too... it maybe hard in a public park...
A robot party - what a wonderfully unique idea!! LOL, I love it.
I think if we're talking mostly 3yo's at the party then you're better off keeping it simple. If it were me, I would incorporate a few of the great ideas already posted above, but make the 'focus' of the party the robot costumes/boxes. Rather than setting up specific activities, I would tend to just lay out heaps of hula-hoops, skipping ropes etc on the ground so they can jump over them, run around and just be kids! They'll probably be so excited to be getting around as robots they won't have the attention span to follow any games or activities more complicated than that!!!
Well we had her party yesterday! It was supposed to be at the park on our street and we were only going to do cardboard dress ups, races and pass the parcel with robot things (stickers, toys etc etc). The cake was okay, but I didn't like it, everyone else did. It tasted fantastic, just looked a bit... wonky IMO. Anyways... it rained! So we had to move the party here & the costumes and the pass the parcel were enough At 4pm when the party was supposed to finish I popped the champers and enjoyed spending time with my friends...
