    Bath seat thingys???

My DS is getting too long for his baby bath....whenever he kicks his heels hit the edge of the bath......but he is still too young to sit up unassisted. So Im thinking about having to bath him in our main bath. I have one of those angled seat things for the baby bath, but trying to support him in that in the big bath might be abit much for my back.
So I was looking at those enclosed sort of ring seat things that puts bub more upright....does anyone have any experience with these?? Most that I saw looked like they would be a bit of a pain to clean him around and cos he would be sitting up straight he would not have much water around him to keep warm.....
Any advice or ideas would be fabulous thanks

we had one for Scout and I loved it. He was sitting quite happily by about 5 months so I found it the best option for us. I like the fact if he was to get the wobbles he was still kept upright and I didnt have to worry about holding on to a slippery baby.
Now he is a bit older I dont put alot of water in the bath anyway so I never had the problem of not having much water to cover him.
Maybe just make his bath a little deeper so he is sitting in waist deep instead keeping him a little warmer.
Just before you take him out lay him down to give his bum and willy a wash properly. Its ok to handle a wet wriggly baby for a short time so I really recommend the seats.

if he can't sit up by himself then it wouldn't be safe. They need to be pretty strong for those. Nate can almost sit unassisted and we've only put him in his twice.
Better off getting a fabric bath sling. Infa make the one I've got and they are mor laying down but supported and less likely to roll off than the plastic ones that seem so high.

Thanks for the advice guys I saw those fabric slings ones in Target when I was looking at the ring seats.....that does make sense and it wouldnt put as much stress on his back and neck too i guess....something to think about thats for sure

We had a seat thingy for DD from about 4 months till 8 months when she was sitting properly. It was made of wire (like good coathangers) and had toweling over it. She actually lay on it on an angle so really easy to clean her and she wasn't awkward in any way. We go it from Baby Bunting.

I had one of the platic sturdy ones and hated it - used it maybe 2 times...
DS was not in much water so he was cold, looked uncomf and also it was hard to clean him.
now that you mention it i might give it away or sell on ebay or something. it was a waste of money for us (and it wasnt cheap, it is some funky looking italian thing..). i think the fabric ones sound better and i will get this for DS2 i think (i am using a bucket atm).

We bought one for Jazz (the ring ones where they sit in it) when she was about 3ish months old, and she could hold her head up but not really sit up by herself. Until she could stabilise herself it was useless, the times we used it we spent more time sitting her back up after she slipped all over the place.

We just ended up getting in the bath with her, especially since she hated her baby bath. It was nice for us too, we got a nice relaxing bath (and I usually stayed in longer to really milked my relaxing bath time LOL!!!!).
