    Protein in urine???

Hi all I've finally made it here yay just a quick question I've only had 3 check ups with my hosp dr from almost 19 weeks and each visit I've had trace protein in my urine...I've never had this with my other 3 pregnancys and my bp is normal no swelling etc
so my question is , is this normal or can it be signalling an increased likelyhood for pre-eclampsia in the upcoming weeks of this pregnancy

Trace amount of protein is considered normal. I had trace protein both pregnancies and had PE with my first, but not second. So no i don't think it really increases the likelyhood of PE.

At one of my last visits with DD1 I had protein in my urine, but thats all it was.
All was ok, so you should be fine
As far as I know, its more likely in your first. Higher chance if you had it previously. Alot less chance in subsequent pregnancies if you haven't had it before

I didnt have any in my first preg but have had traces a few times with this bub. My BP did go up for a couple of weeks but then back down again! I am now 37 weeks and all is well.

    Good luck!

A trace amount is usually fine, it's only once it gets over a certain level that they start to be concerned, and will send you for a blood test. I had PE with my first baby - my protein reading from basic urinalysis (dipstick) was 4+, which is quite high. Have not had PE with my other pregnancies - the chance decreases with each pregnancy, if you have the same partner. Apparently if you get a new partner, your chance goes back to being the same as with your first.
