    Cool A Poo question!!

DS has been exclusively breastfed since he was just under a week old and would have a pooey nappy at every change (about 8+ per day). At about 8 weeks it gradually dropped to 3-4 times per day. But, in the last week suddenly it has changed and he has only done 3 - Tues, Thurs and Saturday. Nothing since Saturday. I'm scared about what's going to happen when he does actually do one! lol If anyone has seen the ad on tv where the baby does the poo explosion that's what I'm thinking is going to happen!
I know it's often normal for a breastfed baby to only poo once a week, but I didn't expect it to change so suddenly. Has anyone else experienced this?

Yep! We had the same thing happen, only we dropped down to once a week. We called it "Poo Sunday". We knew when it was coming because he would get really cranky and fidgety on the Sunday, and nothing would calm him, and then when the poo landed he would have a big long sleep!!

Yes I have seen the ad on tv, it is hilarious and yes it does feel like that on poo days!! All I can say is make sure that nappy is fitting as well as it can, and the clothes he is wearing are not his best ones!! Pretty much nothing can contain those poos, but you can do your best to stem the flow! Maybe those nappies they are advertising might be worth a try ...

DD did the same thing. She suddenly switched to poos every 2 or 3 days. But the last week or so she's switched back and is pooing several times a day again.

I guess it will just keep changing as she grows.

Yup, DS did exactly the same thing at around the same age. Then a couple of weeks ago it reverted back to like 4 a day Once you get used to it, you'll love only changing a dirty nappy once every few days.

Don't worry too much about the explosion, the first few DS did after he slowed down escaped the nappy but after that it was all good

It's good to know it's common!! Still waiting. But, it has been nice that the last 2 loads of nappies I have washed have only been wet ones!
