Anyone purchased the Steelcraft Eden pram?
Any comments (good or bad)??
We've looked at stacks of prams and I think we'll go with this one as it has a lot of the features that I am looking for - compact - so can fit in my smallish car boot, has a reversable handle (bubs can look at me or look where we are going), is a 4-wheeler, easy to collapse and is quite light weight.
Price wasn't too much of a concern, as it's going to be a gift from my VERY EXCITED inlaws (bubs will be their first Grandchild), but I am pleased that it is a very reasonable price.
Am I missing something - is there a reason it is so reasonably priced?
Thrilled82- WOW. Lucky u! I have the Steelcraft Eden, but the stroller version. I paid $200 for mine, and I have to say, it is fantastic! The lady at the baby shop where I brought it from, said the Eden in the 4-wheeler (that ur looking at) IS a good pram. I havent had any problems with mine. GL.
Have you looked on the Product Review website? (add .com.au) - they have one negative review about the wheels - apparently not too good on rough terrain - will you be doing any walking outdoors? Otherwise I have a different Steelcraft pram (the Cruiser from Target) and have been very happy with it - they are a good "brand" I think)
I bought the Steelcraft Enigma, which is the older modle of the Eden (only difference being the material/ colour of the pram) and I must say I HATE it! When DD was a new born is was ok most of the time, but as she got bigger it got harder and harder and harder to push and steer! When you have the back wheels locked (which is about all the time) you can reverse the pram, the back wheels backle in as you try to push back, so is an everyday problem! To have all the wheels unlocked, and there is even the slightlest decline in the cement it gets very difficult to steer nad I have seen time after time poor people having to push the pram completely side ways just to have some kind of control of the pram.
I need to sell mine as I have had to buy another pram for this reason, but I don't want to because I feel bad giving some one else my problem.
I suggest if you have a friend with a child with a little weight behind them (so not a new born but maybe 6-12 months old at least) take them with you and test the pram again, pushing it around corners in the shop, even asking to have a push just outside the shop on the pavement, lock the back wheels in and pull back wards, etc etc just so you know excatly what it's going to feel like.
Just to let you know I bought the 'Boutique Kooper' and it is fantastic!!! Everything I have been looking for in a pram to accomodate a new born right up to a toddler!
I have the Eden and love it! we went to get the enigma and were told it was discontinued, with the eden replacing it. But we were also told by the salesperson that they had sorted some wheel issues with the new version, so not too sure if that's ironed out the probs Pish had. I can't comment on that as E is only 4 weeks old, so still very small and light.
All and all though a very good pram, easy to manouvre, put up and collapse... is slightly weighty but I have no probs getting it in and out of the boot. Heaps of storage space too which comes in great for the shopping! Plus I love the reversible handle
I think we will settle with the Eden, the inlaws appear to like it (that's important cause it's going to be a gift from them) and I think I can manage it well (collapsing, manovering, lifting in and out of boot etc).
