    Question baby #2

    Hi ladies
Wasnt really sure where to post this so sorry if its in the wrong spot.
My DP and i are keen to start ttc #2 but have been putting it off as i was asked to be a bridesmaid for my SIL wedding in April next year.
When I was preg with DD i didnt start to show at all until 22wks and was still really tiny at 30 weeks, so I had thought that if we started ttc in oct or nov this year and fell preg straight away i would still be fine to fit into the bridesmaid dress without any trouble.
My only worry is that i might not be so small as i was with #1.

So my qusetion is (sorry for raving on) whether you were about the same size belly with baby #2 as you were with #1 or bigger/smaller?
And did you start to show alot earlier with #2 than you did with #1?
    Thanks

Yes - I did start to show much earlier with #2 - simply as the uterus has stretched before so instead of holding baby taut inside it just relaxes outwards!! It all evens out in the end though....
Having said that, I would not put fitting into a bridesmaid dress above my desire to TTC. Every month is a precious oppurtunity and it can take longer than you would like. My cheif bridesmaid was 6 months pregnant at my wedding and we just modified the dress for her lovely bump. I have also been to plenty of weddings where there is a pregnant bridesmaid. IMO your SIL should be willing to make allowances for you and be happy for you. Sure, her wedding will be her day - but its only one day and I don't think its fair to be expected to put your life on hold for someone else's.

    Best of luck.

I agree with Jellybean - don't put of TTC because you never know how long it will take. I was much bigger, quicker second time round cause muscles don't exactly go back to where they once were! in saying that there are so many pretty dresses that are quite flowy so maybe you could suggest one like that? I touwld depend when you go shopping and how far along you were. Your SIL should understand if you are pregnant and if she doesn't then pull out!

I did start showing quicker but my two were quite close together... saying that, though, I didn't get incredibly big, only started to really look noticeably pg at about 16 weeks - even at 36 weeks and later, people were commenting that I was small for my weeks, so I'd say go for it!

I would not be holding out ttc just so you'll fit in a bridesmaid dress. Sometimes it just takes that little bit longer to conceive.

Saying that I had 18mths from a m/c to falling pg again, which after agreeing to be a bridesmaid for my BIL and his finance - and going dress hunting (finding a style of dress that suited my figure - I was a little larger then the other bridesmaid and more styles suited her), I fell pg. The dresses came into the shop when I was about 6wks pg and I then had to tell the bride-to-be that I wouldn't fit into the dress she had paid for. Luckily she was able to swap sizes and find another bridesmaid, and she is having gown specially made for me as I'll be 8mths pg at her wedding. (I did offer to stand down as a bridesmaid). Now we just wait and see if I make it to the wedding. lol

Yes you will most likely show much earlier with subsequent pregnancies... but I agree with all the others - don't hold off because of someone's wedding! Go for it!

No. I was exactly the same for each of my two pregnancies (17mths apart). I took photos at the same time for each of my pregnancies and can barely tell them apart - and they were different sexes too! Not everyone blows up quicker for subsequent pregnancies, especially if they are smallish to start with, and didn't show quickly for #1.

    Thanks for the advice ladies.
I am thinking that we will start TTC next cycle which will be sometime in oct and as you mentioned it might not happen straight away anyway.
My SIL would be fine with it, i think she would actually be really excited for me as we are really close, it was more just my feeling guilty i guess if i didnt fit into the dress (its already been bought) and worrying about wat we would do.
    Thanks again
