On Saturday night I noticed that the skin on both sides of his face was red (almost eczema like). Since then, the redness has settled, but the skin on his whole face is flakey and quite rough.
I've purchased some MooGoo online in the hope it will settle it, but I don't have it yet. It doesn't seem to be irritating him, it just looks awful. There isn't anywhere on his face that isn't flakey.
The weird thing is, it's nowhere else on his body. DS1 didn't get this, but just wondering if it's a common ailment of a reasonably new baby.
His dad has extremely sensitive skin, so I'm wondering if he's inherited his father's skin. Has anyone else had this on a really young baby?
Yup, I believe flakey dry skin is quite common, particularly in babes who have had a longer gestation. Both my girls had dry skin, DD1 particularly on her feet, DD2 absolutely everywhere. The Moogoo is awesome for it. I found olive oil baths helped dramatically with Phoebe.
BTW, Congrats! (I'm not sure if I saw your BA thread or not, LOL!)
My DS had flakey skin all over his body as a baby. I used to bath him in QV Bath Oil which helped and rub Sorbolene into his skin when he needed it. As AJP said keep away from J&J, it will make it worse.
Thanks everyone. That makes me feel a heck of a lot better.
I'm actually not using anything at the moment - just water. Snacks - I reckon you might be right. Matthew was cooking a lot longer, as you know, so it may have something to do with that. I'll slather him in MooGoo when I get it. Missbec has also told me the MooGoo milk bath is very good, so I'll se how the first purchase lives up to expectation.
I got my MooGoo in the mail today. I also got some free Milk Bath with it. So, I'll try them in conjunction with one another. Battle this issue on all fronts.
