    Sleeping at night

My little 5 month old is an awesome sleeper over night but my troubles are getting her to go to bed and stay asleep. I feed her at 6.30pm and then let her stay up till about 8pm i know when she is tired so i put her to bed. But then she only sleeps for an hour or so and then wakes up and stays awake till me and my husband go to bed and then she is out for the night.
How do i encourage her to sleep from 8pm till the morning with no wake up time in between?
Or is she still to little for that?

DD wouldn't go down and 'stay down' 'till midnight for what felt like aaaaaaages in her very short life! Rather than fight it, I just worked it back slowly. Just assumed that her body would take a while to adjust to the new routine and that when I put her down at 8, she would be back up again. Kept the last awake time really quiet with LOTS of feeding and cuddles to make sure she was completely satisfied and relaxed before calling it a night. Then I would make sure she was in bed by 11:45 for a few days, then 11... a week later started putting her down at 10:45... then 10:30 etc. etc.

After about 6 weeks we've managed to get it back to 9, which I'm happy with.

Hope that helps and you get some earlier nights soon. xox

    Hi,

Your little one does, in fact, have an awsome sleep pattern at night. Many babies seem to want a cluster of feeds in the evening. Many mothers find their baby seems to want to "tank up" - having several feeds before bedtime - then the reward for the parents is that they sleep well overnight. I don't think you can expect better than she is doing at 5mnths. Well done.
