39 weeks pregnant and starting to worry about if bubs is healthy

Hi, im 39 weeks pregnant. bubs has been measuring small (20th percentile) since the 19 weeks scan. i had the NT scan and all was well, i am low risk. scan people and my midwives are not worried about bubs measuring on the small side. however i cant get it off my mind. i read that small bubs can be a sign of something wrong like down syndrome and now of course its playing on my mind constantly.

    feeling very stressed ! help!

You have checked with your health professionals and they're not worried - so you don't need to worry. Small bubbies are fine, just as large bubbies are. Make sure you've got some 5 zero and 4 zero clothes just in case and start thinking happy thoughts about your impending DD. She's going to be petite and beautiful. Not long now!

P.S Do you know the error margin for measuring babies size is something ridiculous like 40%?

I think if your health professionals aren't worried - then neither should you be. You might just be having a small baby (lucky!!)

However if you want some reassurance, ask for a wellbeing scan to be done.

It is hard not to worry isn't it? That is what mummies do!! Scans are only and indication as is the funfal height measurement o bubs size and they can be out by quite a bit. Plenty of mums have been told their bub is too small or big and the baby is absolutely fine. If you are getting worried give your middy/provider a call and have a chat about it.

My SIL's bub always measured small and she was born small but perfect and healthy.

Some babies have to be the small people of the world

The spectrum is all normal, not everyone is going to be spot on the 50th percentile and I think the more important thing is the fact it has been consistent and growing! Try not to worry

I was told from a scan that my DS was going to be HUGE. He was measuring a week ahead of dates. But turns out that he just had a head in the 75% and the rest of him was 50 percentiles, so it threw out the measurements.

I think the things is consistency in the measurements, and yours sound that way, and also your care provides are not concerned.

But you can ask for that wellbeing scan for some reassurance...

i agree with the others... if your health providers arent overly worried then i dont think you should worry...
that said i know i would be worried - bc that's how i am. so i would spk to middy/ob/gp about it and then go for a wellbeing scan if they recommended it after our chat. it cant hurt and it may put your mind at ease.
but as someone who is at a distance i seriously dont think yuo need to be worried.
    best of luck!

ps now that i see you are 39 wks... i would say dont go for the scan.. you will meet baby soon enough in any case! try to relax and enjoy these few days... (assume you are feeling mvts etc)
