DH and I were planning on TTC from Nov/Dec but had a bit of a whoopsie (this is what happens when the contraceptives are all the way over the other side of the room ) But we are thrilled, only a couple of months early!
The thing is - I have recently returned to work part-time and I hired a new financial manager to replace my position when I left (since I said I would not be returning full-time) she is really lovely and my biggest advocate at work in her 40's with no children but by choice and very supportive of those working with children, and she is thrilled to have me there so she can actually take a sick day or a holiday now. So . . when I started she told me her and her partner have been offered a holiday house in Spain in June and she is excited I am back as if I can cover her they will take this opportunity up - I said, of course when I first came back. BUT - now should everything go well with this pregnancy and it's nice and sticky, my EDD is June 19th - it's very unlikely I can cover her.
If the worst should happen with this pregnancy I am the sort of person who would find it easier to deal with if no-one knew KWIM - so I never told anyone I was pregnant with DD till 13weeks (not my boss till 16 weeks) and was planning on doing the same with this one.
But, given the circumstances, should I tell her so she has an opportunity to change her holiday plans before she books tickets?? Or can make other arrangements (I don't know what, a temp isn't really feasible because of the extent of the position)?? Or just wait it out because of the possibility of m/c and risk everyone being really at a loose end because I didn't say anything earlier?? I'm really unsure what to do.
I would take her aside as soon as possible, and just let her know that usually you would've waited before announcing, but because of her plans you just wanted to let her know ASAP, KWIM??
