My boys will eat weetbix most days, but they also love yoghurt, fruit and nuts for breakfast. That might be worth a try (not all together, although that could work too!).
Does he have morning tea quite early at creche?
DS1 refuses to eat breakfast most days.
Sometimes I can get him to eat some vegemite toast and have a drink of milk, but often he goes off to kinder or creche on an empty stomach as he will refuse to eat.
I have tried getting different cereals (one at a time not having lots of options) but he wont eat any of them.
Any ideas?
porridge he will sometimes have but not always

i know it might be a pain to do in the morning but could you get your DS enthused about helping to make his own breakfast with you ... like spread the vegemite on the toast, put sultanas & a squeeze of honey on the porrigde, mash the weetbix in the warm milk, etc ...
My DD is almost 3.5 and she enjoys breakfast more since she started wanting to help to make her own breakfast ... she has her own little cheap plastic kids table in the kitchen to make it all on so it's easy for her to reach & it makes her feel it's ' her ' work station IYKWIM![]()
MR - he eats pretty much anything and everything at creche ETA: yes its at 9am
He eats a lot of fruit and drinks a lot of water through the day but wont have breaky.
smiles I might give that a go though we do tath with porridge he puts on the cinnemon and then too much milk and wont eat it lol

I was like this as a kid and mum used to do everything she could to get me to get breaky. Milo milkshakes were a winner and she used to pop a raw egg in the blender with it just to get some protein into me - blurgh! I'm still not a big breaky person & my nephew is the same, will eat 1 wheatbix under duress & he's 7 now.
Good luck, I hope you find something that works as I am dreading my daughter being like this.
Our little ones are so challenging with their eating. At the moment DD isn't eating anything but fruit for brekky so every morning it's watermelon at the moment. I wish I could give you some more help but I'm basically flying by the seat of my pants and giving her what ever she will eat. She will often go to crehe after eating nothing for breakfast and they will give her something there as like your DS she will eat anything there. I was told that it is up to us as parents to provide our kids with nutritous food but we can't make them eat it - so that is what I'm working off at the moment.
Best of luck darl.
Do you think its a lack of apetite or the type of food offered? How is his eating normally? Does he eat lunch and dinner at home? Haven't tested this myself, but what about offering non-breakfast type foods? Breakfasts are usually simple here too, but if there is a nutritious non-breakfast food he will eat it might be a solution.
I was going to suggest the same as Saffi, have you tried non-breakfast foods? My DS2 has gone off toast and cereal, so now he eats a banana and a tub of yoghurt for breakfast instead. It feels a bit wrong LOL, but at least it's healthy and the main thing is, he'll EAT it!
Miss 3.5 is the same here. Today she has had a cheese, yoghurt and some grapes. I have refused all requests for ice cream though. I know she hangs out for morning tea at childcare and there is food so often there I don't stress about it on those days. I guess there are not many things they can control food and toileting are about it. Needless to say we have had heaps of potential conflict over these two areas!!! I had similiar advice to Liviam about providing good choices. I am sure that when he is hungry he will let you know. Take care xx
ETA - I have had to work on this pep talk myself recently as I returned to work and got stressed about everything, lol.

DD1 is also like this but DP really has to force himself to have breakfast - they are not morning eaters!
DD1 will often be enticed with pancakes, soft boiled egg, yoghurt, sandwiches, banana smoothie, cruskits and even pasta or rice for breakfast on days when she is "not hungry" so think outside the normal foods. Getting him to help is also a great idea.
oh Trish ... i have on a few rare occasions when having to hurry out the door in a mad rush i have thrown a big banana at DD to eat for breakfast in the car (& a small bag of sultanas if i remembered) !!!
DD2 won't eat until 9am so I usually have to send her to daycare on the 2 days she goes on an empty stomach and a bottle of milk. She always eats when she gets there so I know she will eat enough during the day while there to make up for it.
Man I'm glad I'm not the only one going through this!
Think I will try some of the suggestions from you lovely ladies and try not to stress too much about it. Sometimes I think DS lives on fresh air alone!
Thanks again for the suggestions.
In general, he will eat anything other than eggs.
Its a real pain ATM to keep him at the table at lunch or dinner long enough to eat much of anything, unless we have spaghetti bolognaise. Which we arent having every night!
DH has threatened to get the booster seat out and strap him in so that he cant get up.
At daycare, he eats anything they give him and will often have seconds.
Sometimes he asks for vegemite sandwiches for breakfast?
I'd give him sandwiches if it meant he had breakkie. In our house foods dont have a "time of day" attached to them, if you are hungry and you want it you eat it. simple![]()
My DS1 wont eat breakkie until he's had his milk bottle and has been awake for around 1-2 hours. Which means on daycare day he goes with only his bottle.... but they have fruit fairly early in the morning and I always pack an extra fruit bar or something for a snack.
What about a banana and some milk to drink?
I've taken to eating a banana for breakfast myself when I arrive at work or in the car as I drive to work.
