    Labial adhesion

    Hi all,

Even though my DS was born 1 year ago, I'm still struggling with some issues "down there"

I had a small tear/graze which apparently didn't require stitching.

At my 6 week checkup I was told I had a labial adhesion, which is where the wound was starting to attach to the other side, basically my vagina was growing shut. The bridge of skin was about an inch and a half long.

No one seemed all that concerned about this, including GP, gyno and DH. It was/is terribly distressing for me.

I was prescribed oestrogen cream, which seems to get it 80% unattached, but as soon as I stop using it, it grows closed again.

Does anyone else have experience with this? I can't believe I'm still sore there after all this time I know I have the option of having it cut open, but I'm worried they won't cut in the right place and that it will just grow closed again later anyway.

    Any advice greatly appreciated

Tish I'm so sorry to hear you are experiencing this after all this time. I don't have any experience with the adhesion side of things, but after my DD1 was born I had persistant pain with my tear scar and also a prolapse. The drs I saw didn't take it seriously, so I finally found a good GP with an interest in women's health who was happy to take listen to me, and do something about it. I suggest you go back to your GP or gyno (if you trust them - if you don't find a new one) and tell them how distressed you are that you're still having problems after all this time. Sometimes you have push a bit and be assertive when it comes to your health.

Thanks Marydean, I"ve made an appointment to see another GP on Friday, so will see what she has to say. I feel like a bit of a freak at the moment, and was hoping there might have been someone else out there with the same problem.

Hopefully I"ll have good news Friday.

get a referral from your GP and go to see a gyno straight away. i have different issues down there but that is my plan. better to see a specialist.

Please don't feel like a freak - I'm sure many women suffer from embarrassing problems "down there" but it' not like we're standing around the coffee machine yacking about it, kwim? It must be a relatively common thing if the dr you saw downplayed it like that. The fact that it's causing you problems means you're entitled to get it dealt with. Hope the new dr is much better & listens to your concerns

Thanks so much for the support guys, I really appreciate it. I finally have a new referral so I'll see what the gyno has to say.

    Thanks again
