Many people steer away from anything found in a deli, because there are so many unknowns - how old the chicken is, how long it's been there, how well the temperature is regulated. And people have many different levels of caution, some completely avoid anything they even suspect is slightly dodgy, where others will eat pretty much what they always ate with a few minor changes.

I lean towards the casual side of caution, so if it was me - I'd microwave it to be quite hot before I ate it, to try and kill anything that might be living in it. But I'd still eat it.

Whatever you decide, make sure you're comfortable with your decision.

i worked in the Deli at woolies for almost 2 years, depending on the store would be the desideing factor for me. like the best time to get fresh cooked chooks is right near lunch (thursdays/friday/saterday are safer days - higher turn over) is the safest bet. you can also ask when they chickens where last cooked as well. if i buy one now (im also just over 10 weeks) i'll take it home and stick it in the oven for 10-15 mins at 150-200 deg. C just to be sure. like i said for me having worked in the deli it depended on the store (i did admitedly eat some tasty cheese from the deli, but it was the first thing cut on a sunday morning and it looked soo good! )
but i hear you on the craving chicken...i could go one now myself
