Question If your baby had reflux...

... did you have heartburn when you were pregnant?

It's not a theory I've ever heard befofre, but since dd was born I've had two mchn's and my mw tell me that in their experience, if babies had reflux, the mum generally had heartburn. True enough in my case.

    So... whaddya reckon?

DS had reflux, but I never had heartburn... DS's reflux was food based and when I eliminated things from my diet he was fine... xo

My DD didnt have reflux and I only had mild heartburn during preg

Heartburn both times. Was worse in my first pregnancy. Both of my kids are happy spewers. I've never thought it to be reflux but that's what everyone else refers to it as.

I had reflux/heartburn in the last trimester with DD1 and she had really bad reflux until about 6 months.

I have in the last few weeks stared suffering bad reflux/heartburn, soon we will find out if DD2 suffers from reflux too, gosh I hope not.

I had shocking heartburn with both girls (worse with Nina, I would throw up black stuff ) and none of my girls had reflux.

I had heartburn but no reflux Interesting to know of mums whose bubs DO have reflux, if they had heartburn or not though, never heard of that theory!

Theory works in our case too. Horrible heartburn for me and DD is medicated for her reflux. The theory of heartburn means hairy baby worked for us to

I had really bad heartburn in my first two pregnancies and only my first baby had horrible reflux, number 2 was a dream baby. I didn't have anywhere near as much heartburn 3rd time around but have another baby with horrible reflux.

Incidentally all my heartburn seems to have correlated better with the old wives' tale about heartburn meaning a baby with lots of hair. My first 2 were extremely hairy and this baby just has a little bit of hair. I never heard that theory either until after DD1 was born when lots of people started asking me if I had heartburn. Sorry a bit OTT.

I actually thought if you had heart burn it meant the baby had lots of hair - that one was true in our case anyway. Mind you I had heaps of heartburn, DS doesn't have reflux but is a happy chucker... not sure if that counts though...

No heartburn for me and DD has terrible silent reflux. Sounds like another old wives tale
