Unhappy Help! He's crying in his sleep

and its breaking my heart . My DS (20 weeks) has started crying in his sleep!!! It's a sad "wah wah wah" kind of cry - very different to his hungry, tired or pick me up cries. He has been a bit sick (throat infection and fever) but is much better the last two days.

Any ideas about what could be happening? Sometimes its just one cry, but there have been a few 20-30 seconds of crying - I pick him up for cuddles and he stops. Do babies have bad dreams?

Awww that made me feel really sad..poor little man. I guess he could be having bad dreams or maybe he is still not 100%? either way it sounds like picking him up is making him feel secure, perhaps just patting his bottom would do the same with less risk of waking him completely?

poor little thing I think they do have bad dreams. Just after a bit of stress in our family lumpy used to wake up in the middle of the night crying. We just gave her cuddles and it normally settled down quickly. They can get what we were told "night terrors" which is when they are inconsolable. That happened a few times but went away really really quickly. Again, lots of cuddles always help. It may be related to not feeling well and hopefully he is better soon

It could be teething, this is how DD was when she started. Got her first two at 4 months (has just cut her sixth now, bit of a teeth hog).
