    Biting Baby from 12 months

I have a 18 month old little darling girl, who has been biting since she was 12 months old. She has only ever really has bitten her cousin, who is 3 weeks older than her and they are very close, love each other dearly, and spend a far amount of time together.

But she has recently bitten other children (one at daycare and another friends child). All the information available that I have found just doesnt seem relevant to a child her age, and every professional I have asked has said that she is to young to start with the tactics suggested. A couple were shocked that she was a bitter at such a young age to begin with.

All I have been doing is giving her a smack on the hand and telling her off stearnly and trying to tell her how naughty it is, she is starting to understand and gets upset over having done it, but it is still a natural reaction when her cous upsets her.

Has anyone else had this problem or heard of it and what was done at this age?

My twins are 17 months (almost 18 months) and will occasionally try and get a bite on each other if they get frustrated with each other (like if they are both trying to get the same toy) I have no idea where they picked it up. I just tell them it was naughty and they musn't bit their sister/brother. I guess it is just a stage they go through.

My DS is 17, almost 18 months old, and has been biting for a little while as well. Tonight he made his sister bleed, after chomping into her! It is getting a little frustrating to say the least.

I have no idea what to do. Just wanted to say I feel for you
