    5 week old sleeping times

    Hi everyone

My DS has been waking for feeds 3-4 hourly, however has today started to stretch his sleeps to 5hrs.

Is this normal, should I be waking him for feeds?

    TIA

    Hi Soulful

That is normal for a newborn but I'd be waking him at 3 hours, 4 at the most during the day. I'd let him do long stretches overnight but not during the day. Our DD was a sleepy newborn which resulted in her being a lazy sucker and struggling to gain weight. My supply was affected by not feeding her enough.

Remember newborns need between 8 - 12 feeds a day and the more you fit in during daylight hours the less he may need at night - so possibly more sleep for you!!

Good luck and enjoy your little man
