    Baby skipping percentiles!

    Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone can tell me if this is ok.

My DD was pretty small when she was born, she was at the 10th percentile for HC and at the 5th for height and weight. She had a single umbilical artery and low placental protein which probably accounted for this. She has always fed really well and has grown well (formula fed).
She is now 4 months old and is at the 75th percentile for HC and weight, and is at the 50th percentile for height (a shorty like her mum and dad). So needless to say there has been a rather steep growth curve. Is this something that I should speak to her nurse/doctor about?

    Thanks in advance,
    Emma

I owuld think that it's a good thing she's growing so well. The growth charts are only guides for people to look at and are not gospel. It sounds like your DD is going great guns. I wouldn't worry at all!

A lot of little babies do a bit of catch up like this in the early months. I wouldn't be worried, sounds like she is growing well

If they are happy and growing, no matter how fast, then they are fine. They come is all shapes and sizes . Use the guide just as that, a guide.

I think this should be more than fine, i would only worry if she was going backwards.

My poor DD has always been 10th% for weight, 25th for height and her big fat head was the only thing 50% or above.

They told me aslong as she was gaining weight and happy there was nothing to worry about, aslong as she did not slip down the chart it didn't matter how quickly she climbed it.

HTH... seems like your doing a wonderful job!

sounds like a good thing to me

Ash was always over the 100th percentile, still is. It's been something that's been said as good not bad. As long as they are ON the percentile line I wouldn't worry at all

My DD started off the 3rd percentile for weight and climbing the percentiles quickly also. THe MCHN said that so long as the height, weight and HC are all continuing in similar kinds of trends its fine. If you're worried I would make an appointment for DD with a health professional just to put your mind at rest.
