    Extreme Fatigue...Is it normal?

I am almost 34 weeks and for around the last few days I have been experiencing extreme fatigue, I can only do little bits at a time before I need to sit back down.

I wasnt like this with my first pregnancy and was charging on like a bull at a gate till I was in labour.

I am finding it extremely frustrating because I am the kind of person who does not normally sit down except to eat during the day, and I cant get everything done I want to.

Can it be normal this late in pregnancy and has anyone else experienced it?

I am like that with all of mine. How is your iron level? Maybe that has something to do with it.

Are you getting sick? Maybe got a virus?

I know I went downhill at 36wks, really tired (more so than normal) then lots of BH contractions, nausea. Ends up I had a virus and found myself dehydrated and on an IV overnight.

    Check with your dr.

    Hope all is well.

I'm with you. My iron is fine but I will fall asleep at any opportunity I can. Just soooooo tired. I wasn't like this with any previous pregnancies either.

I think it is a very busy (and hot) time of year so it's just plain exhausting.

I have an ob/gp appt next Tuesday so I will be asking then if it is still the same. My iron has always been really good but she will probably check it anyway, apart from the fatigue I dont feel physically sick and its not really sleep that I want. I sleep well through the night and I have tried during the day when DD is asleep I just dont, but the rest is good. Its good to know though that others have felt the same. DH is having a heart attach over what the electricity bill is going to be because I keep turning the air-con on when it gets to much for me, which according to him it aint that hot half the time, oh well.

i hear ya on the fatigue. Feel like i'm living underground with a blanket over my head. It's ridiculous! It's so frustrating getting nothing done like this!

Aside from the first trimester, it was around the 34 week mark that my fatigue really set in, I remember I still had two weeks of work left and no idea how I was ever going to get through it. Anyway, I tend to think it is normal, but probably worth checking with your carer about for peace of mind.

I did with DS at about 34 weeks, all I could do was lie down and read, I couldn't even stand to make dinner unless I sat on a stool at the stove. Turned out it was my iron levels that my midwife and ob forgot to mention after my 28 week blood tests! I only found out at 36 weeks

I was extremely tired - I could feel myself fall asleep at my desk at work. I was going to bed when I was tired, which was early, and I wasn't waking feeling refreshed, even after an 11 hour marathon sleep of the dead. Turned out my iron was really low. I've been taking tablets since Friday night and am feeling a bit better although I still wouldn't knock back a nap. Was told I should gradually feel better as my iron levels increase.

I'm 26 weeks and feel like that how I am going to get throught he rest of the summer I have no idea, DH had a RDO today and spent it looking after the other kids, I get out of bed and an hour later am back there, I will actually sleep though. I just have an overwhelming feeling of exhaustion and my heart starts to pound, then lying down seems to be the best thing. I had my iron levels tested today, I reckon there is a good chance that will be what it is.
Hope you are feeling better soon.

This is my 1st pregnancy and I have been exhausted from 30wks on. I finished work Christmas Eve at 36wks and I feel as though I will and could sleep and rest until baby is here. I have so much to do but no energy at all!

A couple of weeks ago I was soo exhausted all I could do was sleep. I even fell asleep on a chair eating my lunch!! Went to see a doctor and he tested my blood. Seems my iron was very low making me severe aneanic. He ordered 5 days of bedrest and 2 iron tablets a day for 3-4 weeks than going to 1 iron tablet plus multi vitamin for the remainder of my pregnancy. Now 2 weeks later I am feelin better but still need at least 2 naps a day.

Get your iron levels checked when you feel extremely tired.
