Red face Slightly embarrassing problem - am I weird?

Ok so since having Eden I have uh.. *cough cough*... got very bad gas Like, it smells like something has died up there. Its rotten, its even disgusting ME, and you usually don't out stink yourself.

I know that I had a good clean out before going into labour, but whilst in labour, was still uh.. pushing out some... stuff.... lol... but it really smelled as well (and very embarrassing also at the time) and was quite dark, almost black like.

So I'm wondering uh.. what the heck is my body doing? Its this freakin rotten and CONSTANT farting that might make me a divorced woman soon.. LOL... DH even uses the word "ghastly" to describe the uh.. smell.

So did anyone else have this problem, or should I go to a doc and embarrass myself even further by talking about this in real life?

Maybe it is because during the last part of pg you can get a bit backed up and constipated and you don't go as often as you usually do, so now that you're not pg anymore your body is just getting rid of everything that you've not gotten rid of as yet. You could try a bit of metamucil to help get you regular, possibly even some senakot laxatives (OK when bf, I had them in hospital) to get you moving again and make sure that you drink loads of water and stay away from foods that are known to give you excess gas.

Trill - if anything I had the runs for the last 3 weeks of my pregnancy!!! I kept thinking that maybe I would go into labour but nooooooo... wasn't that lucky to like, go early or anything!!!! So I don't have any actual "poo" issues, just the gas.. LOL

Does chocolate create gas? Been having that a lot lately, been a tad stressed.

ETA - and I totally PMSL at your "location"... love that... I quote that all the time...

I got black poo when I was taking pregnancy vitamins, primarily because I hard a hard time absorbing the iron in them. Resulted in constipation, some foul smelling & dark looking poo. I had good iron levels all through my pregnancy so my body just didn't need it so it got rid of it. What are your iron levels normally like? If you're taking supplements would it be likely that you're not absorbing it well? I know Vitamin C can help iron absorpton.

LOL, DH says it to me when he's buggered up the computer. Anyhoo, back to your issue, I have no idea if chocolate could be doing it, but it could be contributing to some of the problems you are having with E though (going by your other posts). I don't know what else to suggest sorry hun.

So when I say 'you stinker' it's for real?

I heard that chocolate can be a laxative, so I guess it affects your digestive system. Can you give it a miss for a short while? Remember it has caffeine in it anyway. Replace it with something else yummy though, Frosty Fruits or sour worms...mmm....

Lollybaby might be onto something with the excess vitamins though?

I'm no real help as to the why - but just a suggestion to go get some gut support pills. Argh, I can't think of the name, in the chemist, you take them for when you've had antibiotics or whatever...with all the good germies in them, the shirota and lactobacillus etc etc

So not helpful when I can't think of the name, maybe someone can help me out....just thought your system might be a bit out of whack and that might help!

Good luck on removing the stench tee hee!

Hmmm, gotta be either a certain food you're eating or vitamins or herbs you are taking? Are you on fenugreek? Maybe it's that? Although that smells like maple syrup usually doesn't it

    :yeahthat:
I think there's different types under that brand..but ask the chemist for one to replace healthy gut bacteria and they'll tell you which one, unless you want to share about your extreme flatulance!

Sorry, I shouldn't be making fun of you, just farts make me giggle. Mature thing that I am!

As long as I get a bit of warning Mel, I will have some Onion Rings from Hungry Jacks (Burger King) and be more than ready for you.

We joke that DH's ultimate sign of love for me is when he buys me Onion Rings...I love them but....
I remember when we were dating, and I'd been eating Onion Rings and...........and I was terrified he'd break up with me on account of the smell. Now he's trapped.

Mel, it could be the chocolate. It's usually what gives me bad gas...but I continue to eat it. The pleasure from eating chocolate far outweighs the smelly farts (although DH doesn't think so ). Also the vitamins make mine darker too. I think it's the extra iron in them.
