    VBA3C wanted....

    hiya girls

    ok brief history....

1st bub born via emergency section 1999 borderline pre-eclampsia & high BP 8pound 7ounces girl

2nd bub born via elective section 2001 as i was over it high BP 8 pound 6 ounces boy

3rd IVF bub born via section i went into labour prior to booked date for section GD this time round 4.265kgs (don't know pounds??) boy lost twin at 5 1/2 weeks

I am on a major health kick as of lat week...aiming to lose weight and get fit and feel good within myself, my GP has said he doesn't see why i shouldn't be given a TOL when i next get pregnant and doesn't see why i shouldn't be able to VBAC. The thing is...the hospital i have been to the past three times told me last pregnancy i had NO choice but to deliver via section, and i desperatly want to have a VBAC.

A birth centre is in the wind possibly being built this year right near me here in Parramatta. Do you think this would be an option for me?

    or

do you think hiring an independant midwife would be my best bet? and try for a homebirth? BUT by that time it is supposed to be not allowed? someone correct me if i am wrong here)

how would i go about achieving my VBA3C.....
and how would i go about convincing my DH to a homebirth if that was the way to go....

Move to Tassie and use my midwife because she had a VBA3C herself

    Hehe sorry

About the midwives though - I haven't caught up with the latest news, but didn't they get extra time or something? Another year or somethin? So you might find that they are actually able to still practice independently. I don't know if they have independent birth centres where you are though, but my midwives wouldn't exclude anyone from their centre, no matter how much of a "risk" we seem to be.

And really, I think the risk goes up .2% or something each c-section that you have (something like that, I could be pulling figures out of my bum, but I'm sure I've read that) so really its still only about a 1% chance of something going wrong.

*shrugs* other than that mate.. I dunno..... MOVE TO TASSIE?

Is there any other option hospital wise? Otherwise I would be calling independent midwives or if you can find a supportive OB and go private then maybe thats an option?

In the end though they cannot section you without your consent. So just dont consent. If you go into labour, stay at home as long as possible with an indepedent midwife and then head to the hospital.

Birth centres dont allow VBACs. You'd be best contacting an IM in your area. Check out the forum for IM's in Sydney and give some a call, I am sure you could find someone to support you - and it's probably the only way you'll be able to do it. If you strike out with the first one, don't be disheartened, try more. Some are more conservative than others and it all comes down to experience and confidence. Good luck!

I went through an independent birth centre - run by independent midwives - not one attached to a hospital.
