    When to stop wrapping

My DD is 11 weeks old and every time I check on her lately she's managed to wriggle out of her muslin wrap and sometimes it's near her head. I'm getting worried she'll wrap it around her face but I can't seem to wrap her any tighter in it. When I wrap her I also pull a sheet across her body and tuck under her mattress but that doesn't help either. When is a good time to stop wrapping and how can i do it? Itried to put her down withouth the wrap but she wouldn't settle.

When DD was very little she was an escape artist too. I ended up buying a wrap that velcroed closed and this worked brilliantly when she was sleeping (I can't remember the brand right now but will find out if you want). We stopped wrapping once she was starting to roll over and bought her a sleeping bag so that she still felt contained and was covered.

with DD2, i wrap her with a thin muslin wrap,m then another one that goes over the top and gets tucked under her body, then the cot sheet... i feel its a tad OTT, but its what she needs to get to sleep!

i alwas take the extra wrap layer off her once she's in a deep sleep, and on warm days i take everythng of, except the muslin around her arms.. as that wakes her.

as for when to stop... i am wondering that myself! i fed DD1 to sleep till she was 2 and a half.. so i have no idea!

DD1 I wrapped until she was 8 months old LOL but she didn't roll around much and escape. DD2 just won't stay still and unwraps herself several times a night, so I'm stopping today! She also won't settle without anything around her. I have bought a Grobag to put her in so hoping it does the trick! She doesn't like having her arms wrapped, so fingers crossed.

To answer your question, whenever you think the time is right, you could try a sleeping bag and then go back to wrapping if it doesn't work out?

    Good luck.

My DD is a little houdini too! I ended up getting a couple of the Kiddopotamus SwaddleMe wraps. I wrapped her in a muslin wrap, then put her in the SwaddleMe, this worked great for a while! Now I fold up a muslin wrap and wrap it around her arms and under her body (ITMS?), her weight holds the wrap tight and keeps her arms next to her sides, then I wrap her in a cot sheet. This works really well, although she's good at getting out of it overnight when she rolls around a bit.

I wrapped both my boys until around 8 months of age from memory.

I stopped wrapping DD when she was a few months old. her arms would never stay in the wrap and one day I just decided to stop...it didn't worry her at all, at first I just tucked a sheet over the top of her but now I don't even do that as she rolls from one end of the cot to the other. Lol. At night I put her in a sleeping bag, but for day sleeps I just put her down as is.

Tess is 8wks old and I stopped swaddling 1wk ago. We too had a swaddle me wrap and she would escape through the bits that were velcroed and her hands were out. So I used the GR8X wraps and she would wriggle until she could get hold of her hands. This heat in Melbourne too was another reason I stopped wrapping as all she is sleeping in is the short sleeve marquise onesie at night.
I also have no blankets or top sheet on her cot as she is a wriggler and when the weather cools down will use one of the Snugtime or Gro Bag sleeping bags.
She sleeps well unwrapped..you could try it during the day and see how your DD goes.

I just put her down when I think she is ready and she sleeps with her arms above her head.

Thanks everyone. I guess it's very individual to the child. My update is that for her three sleeps today i've wrapped her with just one arm out and she settles perfectly. I'll do this all night and then go to two arms tomorrow. I'm in Cairns so it's pretty hot here and I have her air cond on so I don't want her getting to cold either. Perhaps in the end, with no wrapping, she won't need the air cond. Fingers crossed:-)

I was just going to write that when DD started escaping we would wrap her with one arm out and she stopped doing it. She couldnt sleep with no wrap just yet and when she started escaping again we stopped and she was fine. My sister found the ones with velcro to be no better than a large good quality muslin wrap, my niece got out of them just as bad, the feet were the worst to pop of them.
