    HELP, so scared!

well last night just as I was going to bed I went to toilet first and when I wiped there was a pink tinge in my cm- i'm really really scared and not sure what to do- there doesn't seem to be any this morning but i'm still concerned.

I rang and made a Dr's appt with the Doctor that will be taking me on (i didn't have my first appt til the 9th of feb). Anyway so I had to tell the receptionist that I was bleeding so I could get in today- so got in at 12pm. But thing is the receptionist forgot to hang up and I could hear the two of them taliking- wondering why I just didn't go somewhere else to see another Dr, but then one of them goes yeah but she's bleeding so I let her come in today- and said my name out loud a few times- Like frick just let the whole waiting room know why dont you!

When i see the Dr what will he want to do?

Em, I had exactly the same thing with DD2 so I know how scary it is. When I went to the GP he did an internal to check that my cervix was closed. He then gave me a referral to get blood tests done - I had 2 a few days apart so I got one done on the spot and then one a couple of days later to compare HCG levels.

He also sent me for an ultrasound that day and then a week later to check bubs growth etc. The first one at 5w3d just showed a sac but ruled out an ectopic (which is what they will also check for with bleeding). The second scan at 6w3d showed a blob with a heartbeat.

I also bled intermittantly, heavier and lighter for that entire week. Ironically it stopped the day of the second u/s that showed all was ok.

Sorry, but I am going to ask you a very personal question. Did you by chance have intercourse with your partner last night? Before you went to bed and before you found the pink tinged CM?

Reason I am asking is that I had some very light bleeding around week 8. I went in and got all checked out. My cervix was nice and closed. Bubs was fine. Everything was fine. Then my Dr asked if we'd had intercourse the night before I noticed the bleeding. We had. He said that because of the increased blood flow in your body while your pregnant (the amount of blood in your body increases by something like 1/3) that you may spot/bleed a bit more after intercourse then you would normally. I was told not to do any lifting for a week and not to have any intercourse for a week.

Good luck this afternoon Em. If he doesn't offer the blood tests and u/s I would definitely ask for them to be done.

    just an update:

seen doctor he has sent me to get an ultrasound- appt at 3pm and he wouldn't do blood tests. Told me there was no point! as Hcg can still be up anyway, don't get his reasoning but didn't want to argue especially since he's one of the doctors I have to deal with at work. Anyway i'm that all is good. Even though doctor told me that not much might be able to be seen on the ultrasound this early anyway

Please remember at 5 weeks you may not see the baby yet. so dont be alarmed.

I have been bleeding, spotting everyday since 4 weeks, i am now 10 weeks today. i have a subchronic haemorrhage which they think is what is causing it but really dont know.

So if you do not see anything today please wait and go again in a week. at 5 weeks my fs would still be doing a bt to monitor if the increase is sugnificent

You will have HCG in your blood, but a blood test now will give you a baseline measurement so they can do another one in a few days and see that your levels are increasing as they should.

I have had bleeding a number of times during this pregnancy, and they have never really found a cause. The cervix has been closed, and they think bleeding coming from the vagina. The blood vessels can be more sensitive and close to the surface during pregnancy, and so bleeding (although always scary) doesn't always mean something is wrong.

    Hope that everything is ok,

    Kate

So glad that the measurements are good Em...
Can you go to another Doctor for a blood test to make sure your HCG levels are increasing over time?
