So DS is on the bigger size and has been in huggies Junior (16kgs and up) since he was at least 12 mnths. He is only 14 kgs now it's just that he leaked in the smaller nappies hence I went up a size and the leaking stopped.
Now my problem is these nappies seem to be too tight for him... they are leaving marks around his tummy and are cutting into his legs so I have been seriously considering cloth especially for night as he doesn't generally poo at night.
So I brought a cover but have no idea what to do with it ... what do I put under it? where should I be researching to find out?
Have a look in the fitted nappies discussion. You'd put a fitted nappy under cover - ie one that doesn't already have any inbuilt waterproofing material. It will be made of either hemp or bamboo.
Most commonly known fitteds are Baby Behinds, but there are heaps of others. Lots of the MPMs stock fitteds on here.
You could easily just go grab a pack of terry flats, about $20 & either make a nappy fold, or just fold it into a rectangle to lay in the nappy.
DS needs microfleece between anything & his skin, but not all babies are as sensitive as him.
Flats I find real easy as 1, you probably won't use them for long, so $20 isn't much to spend, 2, they dry so fast, 3, they can be used for a million other things. I keep one on my car seat coz its leather & gets hot, can put them in the car window for shade... I wish I'd thought of them so much earlier!
Of course Maz's night nappies are awesome & go under a cover too
What sort of cover is it? PUL, wool or fleece? PUL you might not want to use over night. Its not a great idea for long hours as its not quite as breathable as the others, but can be ok. Wool absorbs as far as I know, on top of the absorbancy of the nappy, but I've never used one. Fleece, I love...Again check out Maz's stuff
I would try and find some nappies in a size XL although Im not sure who sells them. My DD is 3.5 yrs old and 13kg and although she is u of nappies, I can tell byoking ath Baby Beehinds I have here, that they would be too small. Especially the elastic around the legs. Be careful of the one size fits all becuase in a lot of cases they dont.
BJ I have a bunch of terry flats for general spills etc... but they are all hard and don't want to put them next to his bum so was looking for something a lot softer I managed to get my hands on a MAZ POG... I checked out her stocking and it was so beautiful that I got a bit carried away and brought it but now I have no idea what I am going to do. I would love to get a Maz NN so hopefuly in her next stocking she will do some.
msadelaide - it is only a large so I don't know if it's even going to fit.. if it doesn't BJ I will send it upto you to see if you can make use of it.
