just wondering if anyone can help me...? i bought my 9 mth old some new tommee tippee, natural flex comforter...the round dummies that are blue and clear. when i got them home they have nuby written in the middle of them.
i usually tend to buy nuby as most of their products are bpa free. when i looked up on the net i found identical dummies in different packaging called Nuby, natural flex pacifier.
Are Nuby and Tommee Tippee a joint brand, and if the nuby dummies are bpa free you'd think the tommee tippee ones with nuby on them would be too, but i couldn't find any info on them. if they aren't i will buy the nuby ones but just wondering if anyone knows.
also it doesn't say bpa free on the nuby packs but all the websites say they are?
I'm not sure about those dummies sorry. But most dummies should be BPA free from what I have read as they are made from silicone and normally a coloured plastic which should be BPA free. If you look online you can find the few plastic numbers which do contain BPA. Should be able to find the number of the plastic used on the dummy. Sorry I can't help you more.
There has been a recent study in Germany and the puzzling thing is that ALL tested dummies tested positive for BPA. Even the ones that were Polycarbonate free and shouldn't have any BPA in them. They didn't quite know why that was but it is worth mentioning that the ones with shields that were made out of other materials than polycarbonate had only very minute amounts of BPA. One theory was migration of BPA from packaging into the dummy.
Anyway, the dummies tested with the lowest BPA values were MAM dummies. NUK was second lowest.
It is usually not the teat that is the problem as both latex and silicone are BPA free. It is the shields you need to worry about.
If you are really worried, you could try one of the all latex dummies like the Natursutten which is available online. Guaranteed no BPA or phthalates.
