What weird things have sat in the back of your pantry for years (and years and years)

    I have:
    1 X can green peppercorns
1 X tin smoked oysters in oil

Does anyone have any ideas about what I could do with them?

Would they still be good? I found out that tinned spaghetti runs out somewhere around the 2 1/2 year mark

A few years back (maybe 2007?) I was cleaning out the top shelf of the pantry (at my mum's house) and I found bottles of medicine with expiry dates going back to 1991

When mum died I found stuff that she'd had since grandma died 13 years previously. I found a box of cream of tartar with a pre decimal currency price tag!!

'Ya know I never thought to check. Hang on... the green peppercorns are 31/12/2010 and the smoked oysters are 27/05/10 so I still have time. I swear they've been in there since before I was pregnant with DS (4 years ago???).

    Wait ***STOP PRESS***

I just had this conversation with DH, he said "What are you doing with my smoked oysters". I said "How long have these been in here, they're still in date" he said "Yeah I eat them all the time" WTF???? Apparently he eats them and then buys more... sorry ladies this is completely bizarre.

    Wait THERE’S MORE!!!

He's now spread them out on a plate and put them on crackers and is eating them!!!! And I just ate one too (it wasn't very nice).

This is no word of a lie, I swear. I am shocked (and this kinda kills the whole point of this thread for me). Apparently he regularly uses the green peppercorns in cooking too!!!!

    Ergh... too shocked... BBL...

Perhaps we could change the thread title/theme to What weird things have you discovered about your DP lately?

I'm literally LOLLING at this, Epicris! funny!

My pantry contains a homebrand tin of corn tips. I don't use these, have no idea where they came from, and no a clue of what I'll do with them. But they continue to sit there, and have done so for about 3 years now.

The thing is... *I* do all the grocery shopping and I've ever bought them. Next time he goes on a secret tinned smoked oyster stocking mission he can bloody well get the bread, milk, and fruit and veg too!!!!

Yeah, I'm laughing now too... at least he's not addicted to gambling, or having an affair... I can deal with tinned smoked oysters.

Oh yeah, and obviously there's no need for anyone to give me suggestions on what to do with them, 'cos I can just ask DH!
