We bought our pram second-hand from a friend of a friend... got a good price, but to be honest I've never been very happy with it.
We currently have a Valco Baby 3 wheel jogger (I think it's called?). Maybe if I were planning on doing some off-road jogging it might be good, but I'm not.
It's big, bulky, heavy, takes up our entire boot, and is basically just a pain - I avoid using it most of the time.
So, time for a new pram. This is what I'm after:
Lightweight
Easy to fold and smaller than what we currently have (which shouldn't be hard)
Able to have bub front or back facing
Possibly able to have a toddler seat added so it could still be used when # 2 comes along
Not too pricey
Any recommendations or suggestions would be greatly appreciated .
i dont have suggestions for you, but I know its pretty much impossible to find a pram/stroller with every thing you want it to have. If you find something that ticks all of your boxes deinately let us know!
We don't have any actual experience with it yet (given that this is our first child I am pregnant with). But DH and I will be getting the strider plus. I don't know how it goes fold up size wise compared to other prams, becasue we've never had any others. But I do know you can change the seat to it's either forward or rear facing, and you can get an extension thingy (thingy being the technical term ) that enables you to put on a second seat. So you can theoretically have both an infant and a toddler seat fitted to it.
It also has a baby capsule attachment you can buy for it. That can be attached to the pram and is able to be taken and fitted as a proper baby capsule in your car.
From memory, the Strider plus (which comes with a baby/toddler seat) is about $600. I can't remember what the extension thingy to enable a second seat cost. But a second toddler seat is about $150 and the baby capsule is about $300.
We've just replaced our three-wheeler with the strider plus, still only using it as a single till March. I like it, but it is still a big fold, so that might not suit. But it can be reversed as Dr Tal said, and it has the second seat. I think if you want a lightweight, small fold pram, you would probably have to forgo having a toddler seat attachment - it would probably make it too unstable. And most lightweight, small fold prams are also not reversable. As Widdley says, its really hard to find a pram that ticks everything!! That's why I have a big pram (which is the strider now) set up for walking, and then a Maclaren vogue, which is an umbrella stroller, in the car for the shops. I plan on just using that for DD and slinging the new baby when it arrives.
