have been TTC for 12 months now. been told I have PCOS and underactive thyroid.
Now been sent to Gyno.... he has tested my partner...he is all good!!!
so now me....I have has ultrasound and blood test b4 seeing gyno...
been to gyno now 4 times... he sent me for blood test just after Christmas to see if I was ovulating on the 18th Jan... (my period started 25th dec- 30thdec)...went back Monday 1st Feb he said that result showed no ovulation yet... I told him I had been to OPK at home and has positive read the 24th Jan (he told me it could have been wrong so dont worry bout it) he sent me for ANOTHER blood test that day and said another the next week and to see him in 2 weeks.
I said if I am not ovulating what happens... he said Clomid
I said what If I am ovulating but irregular (my cycles go for 6-12 weeks) he said "your guess is as good as mine"
if I am ovulating will he just leave it up to us to TTC AGAIN? or can he still help? and why all the bloods ? He knows its been 12 months, with PCOS and under active thyroid!!!
if you're ovulating, they may still put you on clomid to make your ovulation more regular and slightly more predictable (some of us don't O even on clomid though!)
have you had your sugar/insulin levels checked? this is something that i've found most PCOS sufferers have issues with, and getting that under control can help ovulation naturally.
i would ask for a referral to an endocrinologist (preferably a reproductive one) to get all of that checked out. if you are ovulating on your own, you may just need a bit of help to get it more regular - and it may take someone with a broader understanding of PCOS than a gyno to see that (my gyno was fantastic for checking early stuff, but he barely touched on the insulin resistance that can go hand in hand with it - and my insulin resistance is/was horrifically bad!)
Clomid is designed just to make you ovulate, so there is no reason to take it unless your not ovulating. They "can" put you on clomid to make your cycles more regular and give u an idea when to DTD etc..........
Sounds like you cycles are a little over the place which i lifestyle change and some weight loss will help get them back more regular. Its great for a PCOS sufferer to still have periods every 6-12 weeks ( i wish mine were that good ) Also you can look into herbal medicines and acupunture to get your cycles more regular. Good luck TTC.
we TTC for 8 months after i found out i had PCOS, my dr wouldnt do anything about it so we had a locum come up and i told him that i wanted to try Metformin to see if it made any difference, he understood where i was coming from and gave it to me straight away. within the month i was pregnant. i had my insulin levels checked before i took it and then when i fell pregnant & my insulin levels were back to what a normal persons should be.
We were going to try Metformin for 2-3 months then ask for Clomid. good luck
I was prescribed metformin too. It helped to regulate my cycles from 3+ months down to about 40 days. It took 9 months to concieve DS. I was also on a low GI diet as advised by my doctor.
hi im new here too and we have been ttc for 12ths too and i have pcos aswell, i am taking metamorfin aswell and i have reaserched a herb called vitex it helps to regulate the period, so i went to a natural path and i am on herbal tab called menstro support which has more ingredients in it aswell , but it's only available from a natural path. i am just on them for over two weeks and i am breaking out and getting the af pains, so hopefully these tabs are doing there job !! and i am still taking the metamorfine tabs aswell, for the insulin levels just look into it and plus its herbs so wont harm, i am trying everything i can cause my gyno never put me on clomid just straight a way after i had d&c op he said look into IVF?
