So its been a long haul to get to this point but I am finally working towards my dream of becoming an (Independent) Midiwfe.
I have had to make so many changes in the last year to accomodate that dream but its finally brung me to my 2nd Year of Bachelor of Midwifery.
So there is where the dilemma begins....
Last year the girls father moved back to Townsville with the girls whilst I finished the year out of Uni. I applied to 2 other Uni's offering external Midwifery as a back-up incase I needed to stay here in Townsville.
So all seems to be ok until I was offered a place in the UniSA Bach of Midwifery (which is a tough one to get into I might add) for this year. I was originally told that I didnt get in so I moved on and started to prepare to go back to Brisbane for the 2nd year. Until I started recieving emails and mail congratulating me on getting into the Bach of Mid???
So now I am stuck with the decision of whether I should just continue with my plans to move back to Brisbane or stay in Townsville and start the UniSA course.
I had thought that I would defer the UniSA course as a back-up but I have been told by the Uni that they don't defer the offer. Its take it or leave it.
This is all very last minute. I am supposed to be moving back to Brisbane next week!! But I am just stuck. I don't know what to do.
So.....any advice, support, comments....whatever.....would be appreciated!

Where will there be the most support for you while you are studying? Will your DDs' dad be staying in Townsville or going back to Brisbane - and does that help your decision? What about ease of childcare arrangements/help from family and/or friends in each place? These are the sorts of things I would be thinking about. YOu want to go into your study with as many supports in place as possible. Also, the other great strain of studying tends to be finances - which town is less/more expensive to live in vs. your possible income in each place?
I guess what I'm saying is don't just go for the course that's the most prestigious - make the decision based on how well your life is going to 'work' overall during your study years. HTH!
The situation with my girls is that if I do move back to Brisbane they will be living with my Sister full-time. Their Father works 14 on 7 off so will be away most of the time. This is the main reason I don't think its a good idea to leave. Both parents moving away from them.
It would be cheaper for me to stay in Townsville cause I wouldnt have any rent etc. However from a motivational point of view, on-campus suits me so much more.
Its a hard decision to make but its one that has to be made very soon!
Tough decision but TBH I am not one for distance study because I forever get distracted by kids or chores or TV ........... I would do best at on campus study so that is what I would choose.
I would do whats practical and if Brisbane and oncampus study is practical and the best for you then the rest will work itself out.
Its a long time to be apart from your girls and the cost of travel to see them would be expensive.
Which uni you go to doesnt matter as in the end the mid qualification is all the same, everyone gets registered by the nurses board and doesn't matter about who went to what presitgious course.
I personally couldn't be appart from my kids for so long. Support of family is important when studying also.
