    All day sickness.....

    Hello ladies!

I have been having a really bad time with morning sickness lasting ALL day for the past few days and no matter what I seem to try it doesn't really help much at all! I keep feeling like I am hungry ALL the time, but then when I think of food I want to spew!

I have spewed 3 times today and haven't been able to keep much in....I asked DH to bring me some ginger beer from the shops and have tried a glass and although it seems to help for a little while, when I stop sipping on it, the nausea comes back. I got a script for Maxalon from my GP about 2 weeks ago for just incase I needed it and have been taking it 3 times a day as prescribed, but it doesn't seem to be helping much either..

I know that it's probably all very normal and that everyone goes through it, but I'm just feeling so sick and sooooo tired and drained and nothing I try seems to be helping/working.

Could anyone perhaps please offer me some tips/advice/help.

    Very much appreciated, thank you!

It is normal....and it sucks huh!!

I know when I was sick this time around I could only eat little bits often, and only drink REALLY cold water through a straw!

Your body is building something very amazing inside, so it's no wonder it makes us feel tired/drained/sick....it's not about US!. Listen to it....that's what I learned the second time around....it needs all the energy it can muster to create a perfect little human!

It's really hard what with working / toddlers / study and all that, but do try and do NOTHING as often as you can!

Hopefully it ends for you soon and then you can start to enjoy your pregnancy

Acupuncture, acupuncture, acupuncture. I can't speak highly enough of it!

I had hyperemesis gravidarum with my first so was chucking ALL THE TIME. Acupuncture made me feel human for a little while.

There is also a stronger anti-nausea drug called Zofran which you can get in a wafer. However it's not on the PBS for pregnancy so it is reasonably expensive.

You should also try to get those hydrolyte (sp?) icy-poles. They are specifically to stop you from getting dehydrated and you can suck on them.

    Hope it gets better!

Pretz love, my doc told me about the wafer thing too. Think i am going to try it if i keep going this way. Also i had some Powerade while doing the shopping yesterday, helped a little bit. Also sucking on or sniffing a cut lemon. Sour, but nice!!

I carried a water bottle around with half juice half ginger beer and sipped it regularly to reduce the nausea. dry bikkies helped a bit. fruit tingles.

it's horrible, but hopefully will settle down in a few weeks.

i'm experiencing the same thing atm (although just nausea so far, wish I could spew then i might feel a bit better), it only started 1 1/2 days ago. I found that drinking really cold water or chewing ice cubes helps a little and also snacking on salt and vinegar chips helps me too.

Oh sweety, sorry your feeling so sick.

All I can say is that I know how you feel, and the only advice I can give is that if you find something, anything that makes you feel better have it and dont feel guilty about not eating healthily at this point.

Take it easy on yourself and sleep whenever you need to because I found the more tired I was, the sicker I felt. Crazy I know.

Good luck, hope you feel better soon.

Oh I so hear you! I was prescribed Zofran, because the Maxalon wasnt doing much for me. There is no a generic version of the Zofran, and instead of paying $103 for 10 8mg tablets, you only have to pay $46!! I know its still expensive but it really will help. I see your in Brisbane, im in Melbourne and got the generic from the Chemist Warehouse.

    Big hugs to you

Oh I'm sorry. MS is the pits!
I didn't find a cure... Oh wait. Yes I did. Giving birth is the only thing that worked for me.
I hoep you can find something and that your sickness eases.

I had the same with my first and took Restavit tablets (just 1/2 once a day) from the docs script after I'd been suffering for about 8 wks. This time i took it as soon as the sickness started (5wks, oh joy!) and bought it over the counter (no script) at the chemist (about $15 ). It's actually prescibed as a mild sedative so you'll have to say its for that as not many pharmasists know you can take it for m/s and won't issue it. It's kept things under control this time and I (touch wood) haven't thrown up (now 13 wks). I also started acupuncture at about 6/7 wks which I think probably helped too.
I feel for you though. I reckon if I had remembered more acurately how I would feel at this early stage I may have thought twice about having a second!!! Thankfully it does improve!
    Good luck!
