The front one usually closes over by around 2 years of age. The back one closes in the first few months.
When DS was in the bath tonight, I noticed that the front/top of his head was ever so lightly pulsating and then realised it's where the fontanelles have not fused/joined properly yet. It kinda weirded me out to be honest as I'd never really noticed the movement before... it was ever so subtle, perhaps cos his hair was wet and plastered to his head it was more obvious to me?
Is this normal? When do the fontanelles 'close' so that babies have a full skull as such?

My DD1s is still very open and she is 21 months, I am hoping it starts to close up a little more soon.
From what I know it's normal! My DS's pulses all the time! It's freaky huh?!
jamies is still there the only time i get worried is when i put shampoo in his hair when im rubbing lol
Kyson's is still 3x3cm and sometimes I just sit there and watch the pulsating while he sleeps. Yep, I'm weird, lol!
Funny that I'd never really noticed the pulsating till now, maybe Bailey's little mowhawk has camoflagued it LOL
DD's closed about 13 months old.
My MCHN mentioned last week that they close between 9 and 18 months and then felt DD's head and said hers was closed, but I can still feel it! So I don't know what she was on about.
