10 weeks and really big bump!

    Hi there,

I'm only 10week into my first pregnancy, and I have a bump that is sooo big (I look about 5 months). I've always been trim, exercise frequently, and eat really really well.

Are there any dangers in having a bump so big so early? I love my bump, I'm just concerned about risks, as well as having another 7 months to go.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks.

    xx

I felt the same early on but it may have been due to my EPU from IVF, My bump has come and gone and come back again, you body is trying to balance all the extra fluid it is going to need i guess. Nice to have one though, and i dont know if it would be a problem, our bodies are amazing things

    Have a H&H pg

    Hi EPCS,

A few questions first, are you sure your not having twins? and are you 100% about your dates? These could be contributing reasons for your size.

If it is def only one bub and you are sure about your dates, you size could be from a few things. One, you may have put on some early pregnancy weight, which is normal in the first few weeks as your body is storing up fat to support the pregnancy. (dont try and eat less to compensate as bubs still needs constant nutrients)
Two, you may have polyhydramnios (excessive amniotic fluid) though this is rare and can be picked up with an U/S.
Three , bub could have had an early growth spurt but will even out as the pregnancy progressess. This isn't to say that bub will be overly large.
Four, some women just show very early, while others may hardly show at all. It could be that because you are trim, it is more noticable.
If you are concerned, bring it up with your OB of MW and i'm sure they will put your fears to rest. In the meantime, enjoy looking at your bump as it is the first real visible sign of whats going on inside and perhaps lather on the vitamin E cream, just in case
Congrats and I hope it all works out well for you!

Sometimes you just show earlier/later. It can differ with each pregnancy you have, too. At 8 and a half weeks I looked like I was hiding half a basketball up my top I loved it though.

Its very common to be bloated for the first few weeks. I'm 9 weeks & am starting to look pg already, but this is my 4th baby, so I'm not sure if its just the bloating, or it really is my belly! It might settle, it might not.

If you have a short torso you are more likely to show earlier too. Baby doesn't have so much room to grow up, so it grows out.

I'm sure all is well & baby is perfectly happy in there, but ask your ob/mw if you are worried

ahhh that makes SO much sense; I have a short torso, pretty much massive bb's, bellybutton, pelvis lol. Never thought the reason I was showing so much could be for that reason, but it makes perfect sense!

I guess on the downside it makes it harder to hide from family and friends lol. Are you telling people yet EPCS?

Thanks for all the replies guys.

    - I'm certain of the conception date (that old phrase "it can only take one time" proved true for me)
    - Twins... Not sure. My Nana is a twin and so is my husbands Nana, so I guess it's a possibility, but I've pretty much had no MS, and I thought that all pregnancy symptoms are heightened with twins etc
    - and yes we have started to tell everyone (a few people guessed based on my bump)

I'm seeing OB on Tuesday, so no doubt she'll have an opinion.

    Thanks again xx

Good to know you can ask your OB about it and have it all sorted out, and FYI my morning sickness didnt start till about 15 weeks (when it was apparantly supposed to be over!) so dont go counting your lucky stars just yet, im about to pop in 5 weeks and i still have to make friends with the bathroom sink on occasion!

And Twins? I'll just hope for whatever your hoping for! LOL

Good luck for a H&H pregnancy!

Wow .. I'm very relieved to hear this .. I'm 10 weeks preg and have a decent little bump showing up. When I went to have a dating scan (my dates said I should have been due Sept 3rd, and I'll actually be due Oct 27th!!) the lady who performed the scan commented that I have a backwards-facing uterus. She said that it doesn't make any difference, but I'm wondering if this has something to do with the bump as well .. ?

And I tend to bloat during that time of the month, so maybe ... *shrugs*

I've also had rippingly bad MS, so I guess that's mostly just luck of the draw ... But apparently there's definitely only 1 in there! (Partner has twins in his side so there was a slight panic! Lol!)

I dunno ... I'm so proud to have a bump that I don't really care! I've had a couple of early miscarriages so far, so I'm just so excited that this one has stuck.. We're both really excited about it.

    Hi There :-)

I've had a bump since 3 weeks!!! I know, crazy! I am in a similar position, normally flat tummy, very fit and healthy, run and go to the gym, and so I was shocked to find my seatbelt not fit properly over my belly and my pants at 3 weeks! Since then it has got slightly bigger but not much, It is usually a bit smaller in the morning, and by afternoon it can often be quite bloated and of varying sizes.

I am 11 weeks 5 days now (DD 23rd Oct) and I can see a second fold line which means I think I'm about to get a bit bigger.... I'm tired of trying to hide it now and am happy to wear fitted tops again if I feel like it :-)

I had 2 m/c last year so I think that is a contributing factor to the size of my belly as each time is popped out sooner until this time I knew before evena pregnancy test could confirm it.

Best of luck with your pregnancy XOX

LOL so glad I am not the only one!

I'm almost 10 weeks and have a sticky-outy belly. I am a little chubby but I am round now! its quite firm too! But my tummy does change thoughout the day and is often bigger of an afternoon / night.
