myomectomy - has anyone had one and your experience

hi ladies,

i have just been told my a gyno that i need to have a myomectomy for an 8cm intramural fibroid in my uterus wall.

i am nervous to say the least...

i also have an unknown mass on my right ovary which i dont know what is happening with as yet, as it is being looked at next thursday, so that is another story.

my gyno tells me that 1 in a 100 women who have this myomectomy for fibroids, will end up having a hysterectomy and that a lot of women get so much blood loss that a blood transfusion is needed.

anyway, hopefully my surgery goes okay... but i just wanted to ask, has anyone here had a myomectomy and how did it go? i would be interested to hear of your procedure, recovery time and if you were able to conceive afterwards?

Hi Mizzi...I myself havent had the proceedure, but a friend of mine had it last year. I dont know too much about what happened however about 10 months later, she fell pregnant while she was on the pill! Shes now 11 weeks pregnant. All the best and I hope someone can answer your questions
