Doula in Launceston?

I am desperately after a trainee doula in Launceston area. I am suddenly left on my own for this birth, and I am terrified to put it nicely. I have always had my mum and partner with me. My mum is leaving to go bad to Singapore to be with her hubby (who isn't well) and I am now separated from my partner and he wants nothing to do with it.

I got told I can have my water birth at the LGH so I am so excited after 3 epis I want this so bad but think if I have no one to help me through this labour I will go the 'easy' way out and have another epi

Anyone know of a trainee doula in this area? I can't afford a trained one so it has to be one who doesn't cost.

Missymoo I'm so sorry that your support people can't be there with you! I don't know of any doulas in Launceston but my mum is in Hobart and has a few doula friends, I have asked her if she knows of anyone and will get back to you ASAP. Have you googled findadoula? Also you could contact the Australian Doula College and ask if they have any trainees close to you? All the best - I will let you know if my mum knows someone who can support you! xo

Thank you so much I have contacted a doula in Hobart, but it will cost too much to get her to come here paying just travel costs. She is trying to find one for me but I thought I would be productive and search myself as well. I am feeling very up in the air at the moment and hate it!

there is a Launceston doula listed in findadoula but she is fully qualified...her name is Sarah Behrmann...she may know some trainees? Or perhaps if you discussed with her she could provide birth support at a reduced cost? or payment in installments?

I emailed her and it bounced back She was the first person I contacted a couple of weeks ago.

oh hun...I'm sorry If I still lived in Tassie I'd be quite happy to support you - I'm not a doula but I don't think you should be alone! I really hope my mum can come up with something!

I've just done some googling...the address Sarah has listed on findadoula is different to the one she has listed on her own website which I found through naturaltherapypages...there is also Cherie Chugg who's details I found off the Launceston Birth Centre's website,
