worried about my sister - she's 35 weeks pg ...

My sister is 35 weeks pregnant and has been feeling unwell for the past couple of days. This is what she's got:

    * for the past couple of days she's being experiencing bad swelling in her feet, legs and fingers with tingling as well.
    * For the past 48 hours she's had horrible stomach pains (and being a first time mum isn't sure if they're braxton hicks or not). Panadol, massage and warm bath isn't helping.
    * And for the past 12 hours she's had diarreah.

She called me this morning to ask what she should do as she's starting to get a little worried/nervous. I've told her to call the birth suite and get monitored. I really don't like the sound of the swelling and tingling.
It's so hard that I'm up here in Cairns, she's on the Sunny Coast and for the weekend mum is in Sydney.

So, please help me to stop worrying. Obviously there isn't much I can do, but I can't help worrying about her. I dunno, is there a reason I should be worrying at all?

Has she rung the hospital/ birthing unit?
I think by strongly encouraging her to do that, you're doing what you can.
The stomach and runs could be gastro or could be something pg related...she really needs to get checked for the oedema though, and her BP

she needs to go to hospital now. The swelling and pains together can be very serious.

Well the hospital told her not to go in there, to go to her gp instead. So she went to her gp and she didn't seem concerned with anything. Told her everything was normal.
I really hope they had a thorough look at everything.

what u are describing sounds like how i was in the last few weeks i was very swollen it causes tingling as they were so swollen, i also had lots of the runs lots !! also lots of different cramping ,tightenings, all different tummy pains.
i also worried about it all but each appoitment i was all ok

That being said everyone is different so if she feels she is worried about it she should call the hossy and go in for a blood test and to check on bubs as u if ur worried it will only makes things worse, and she doesnt need extra stress on her

I hope its just pre labour like mine was with bad swelling

Maybe its her bodys way of saying labour is on its way. My SIL always got the runs a week leading up to going into labour. Hope your sister is ok.
