5 weeks no fetal pole... Am I in trouble?

Hey girls

Just got back from my scan...

She said the fetal sack is measuring 5 weeks 2 days but there is no fetal pole at this early stage. Is this normal? I'm freaking out a bit. She said it is common but she wasn't a very nice lady and was pretty rude when I asked if I should be concerned "I've already told you its common."

Just need a bit of reassurance as I'm a little worried...

Hi hun, I had a scan at 6 weeks and there was no fetal pole, but a week later everything was there

i too had a scan at 6W with no fetal pole and everything was there a week later!!
try not to stress chick! ( i kknow WAYYYYY easier said than done!) sorry that the lady was not as nice and understanding as you would have liked!

Ella - Congrates hun. Totally normal for no fetal pole to be detected at 5 weeks. Don't stress hun

Yep.. as the others have said, no need to worry, it's completely normal. The absolute earliest you can expect a fetal pole is 6 weeks and even at 6 weeks, a lot of the time it still isn't detectable! All the very best.

Ella - Don't stress. I had a scan at 5 weeks, no fetal pole either. But 2 weeks later, there was a wonderful heartbeat and everything was fine! Its hard not to stress, but dont worry, because its just so little that even an ultrasound can't pick it up....

Kazbah- thanks for checking on me. Went to see my doctor to get the refeeral for the next scan and he said that there was no cause to be worried. He said he would reather do HCG and if that looked funny then a scan. A6 weeks 2 days the HCG was 74,000 after being 1300 at 4 weeks. He said this was great and he didn't think a scan was in order at all. So looks like the next one will be 12 weeks!
