Cradle swings - your advice/experience on the SPEED of the swing PLEASE!!

    hi there,
I am still trying to decide what kind of swing to get for my 3rd baby due soon. I like the idea of a cradle swing, but now worrying about the SPEED of it.........some say it is too fast even on the lowest setting!!

are there differences between the models? I am looking at the Aquarium cradle or maybe rainforest cradle one. I have heard the papasan model is too fast.

Do they all run on batteries? I actually want batteries as I already have too many wires in our living/kitchen area!!

    thanks SOOOOOOOOO much in advance!

    Hey!

We have the FP rainforst cradle swing and it is perfect, A friend loaned me another one to take to work that just rocked back and forth another FP one with a teddy and it went sooo fast, we ended up poping her in it and not turning it on. The Rainforest cradle swing is slower and there is a range of speed settings, which is important and also the option to turn the seat so it swings side to side or front to back. Some days DD would prefer one way over another.

Batteries last quite a while, but it would depend on how often you use it, and when you are also playing the sounds and making the animals move it would use up more batteries, but we only changed ours a couple of times a we got heaps of use out of it as DD was only small

i found the papasan was rather fast - it wasn't TOO fast, but we never went past the first setting as it was well and truly fast enough at that point! i only had it swinging while DD was awake and would then stop it - so the batteries lasted ages. we used it til she was about 5 months and she wasn't that keen to stay in it anymore. she only ever liked it side to side - the other way left her rather upset and much more pukey (poor refluxy girl! we only did it that way twice cos of that!). i think the papasans swing is suited to heavier babies - heavier bubbas don't seem to swing as fast as the swing has to work harder...

We have a FP Natures Touch cradle swing and yes it does swing fast. It never goes past the lowest setting. What I do however is drape a baby blanket or small towel over the end of the cradle so it drags along the floor. This slows it down to a more suitable speed for bubs.

Mine runs on batteries. I've never changed them yet. I've had the swing since DS was maybe about 2 months and used it for him until he was about 8 months. Am now using it for DD.
