I will be 12 weeks on Friday, but this morning when I went to the toilet at work I saw bright red, heavy bleeding!! I was devastated and rushed to make a doctors appointment and thankfully they could squeeze me in. My doctor sent me for an urgent ultrasound next door and I had my ultrasound.
My scan was amazing because not only did I see my baby in there, but he/she was kicking, waving, moving around! The heartrate measured at 162bpm and everything looks good and normal. The lady who did my scan said that everything looked fine and that she couldn't find the cause for the bleeding and said that I had a small cyst on my left ovary, which shouldn't be anything to worry about. My scan report shows the conclusion as "a viable pregnancy".
I went back to the doctor afterwards and she said that if everything is well with baby that I won't need to worry about anything and that everything will be fine. She also said that they couldn't see any cause inside for the bleed and the doctor said that she doesn't know why I could be bleeding, except perhaps because I lifted something that may have been a bit too heavy or just the fact that the vagina could be more sensitive...
The doctor put me on bed rest for a couple of days, said to take it real easy as that will help the bleeding stop hopefully and didn't seem too concerned at all about it.
I'm feeling relieved that my baby is kicking away in there with a strong little heartbeat, but I'm still a bit worried about the bleeding and where it came from...? It's much lighter now than this morning and more a pink type colour, but why don't the nerves just go away!!??
I guess I was just wanting to find out whether anyone else has experienced this and what was the cause of your bleeding? I guess I'm terrified of the fact that I had a m/c earlier this year and I just want some reassurance that this pregnancy won't turn into a m/c as well...
I have my first OB appointment on Friday, so hopefully he will be able to tell me more and help reassure me a little more.
Hi darl just thought I would let you know I had a bleed quite bad when I was 13 weeks and it lasted 3 weeks. As you can imagine I was so scared the whole time but when I had a scan bub was there kicking and waving and as the same as you there was no apparent reason. The bleed was so severe to start with that I went through a bed sheet a matress protector and matress, when I saw this at 2 am I freaked and to wait 3 weeks for it to stop was agonising but just keep in mind these little buggers inside us are so strong.
Hi, just want to say *hug*. I had a bigish bleed at 14 weeks (on Saturday) and have had two scans since and everything is OK.
The cause for me was a bleed in the placenta, but was told the good news is it wasn't behind the placenta so won't distrupt supply to the baby. They said they can't always see the source of the bleed due to position, size and how long ago the actual bleed happened (it doesn't always come out of you straight away apparently). They also said it was a good sign I didn't have any pain while bleeding.
I'm to rest for a week, bleeding has stopped.
Hope this helps, amazing to know how protected baby is in there.
Bleeding in pregnancy is scary, especially if you have lost a little one previously. I have had bleeding a number of times during this pregnancy (last time was at 24 weeks), and each time they couldn't really find a cause. There are a lot of changes happening in your body, and many of the blood vessels in the vagina become more sensitive and closer to the surface, and it was assumed that that is where my bleeding was coming from.
Your scan sounds great, and i hope you start to feel ok soon,
I don't honestly know that the nerves ever go away, but know that when you have these days, there is always support here.
After losing my second baby at 12weeks, I fell pregnant with DS. I bled on and off from 7weeks until 24weeks when they thought I had a uterine abruption.
I ended up carrying him (to a very heavy) term.
Take one day at a time, think positive thoughts, and make sure you rest.
Hey :hugs: I had a bleed with dh at about 15 weeks and then again at 16 weeks at 10.30pm on new years eve! Talk about freaking out. But as with u they never found a reason for the bleed and I went on to have a very big healthy bub who definatly didn't suffer
