Hi,
Looking at getting our first pram (our first bub is due at the end of May), but will most likely be having 2 kids close together. Just trying to find out any information about the two of these (Strider Plus or a BJ City Elite), and if anyone has a preference?
We keep going through them but their pros and cons are so different we can't decide!!
Any help would be greatly appreciated
i dont know much about the city elite, but we got the strider plus last week and it is the shizz!!! i told DF i was leaving him for it i love it so much!!!
great big basket for shopping accessable from every side of the pram, nice big canopy, the whole seat reclines, not just the back part so bubs doesnt end up in an awkward position, and the seat is so easy to lift and turn so bub can be facing u or away from u.
to fold is so so simple and easy, same as unfolding it, jst lift one flap and it does it all for u! and folds really really flat, so would be great in a small car.
I also have the Strider Plus and I love it... I had the Strider 4 when I had DD1 and I loved it so much that I bought the Strider Plus (I didn't plan as well as you even though I knew that I would be having two close together )
Skybie has listed alot of the pros and I agree. The only 'problem' that I have come across is that the back wheels are quite wide and it does not fit through some registers but this was a problem in the Strider 4 also and I went back for seconds so it can't be that bad! The wide back wheels do make it easier for DH to push the pram though as men seem to have a wider stride then us (lol, does that make sense?)
I also love that it is easy to steer, especially when you have a child in your arms and one hand to push the other child in the pram.
I have not seen the City Elite so I cannot compare.
We're going to be getting the Strider Plus - I love it and have taken it for a 'test drive' at the local baby shop We currently have the Strider for DD, and we got the pram and reversible seat with the bassinet (which she used as a bed for almost the first 6 months of her life, I think it only went in the pram once or twice! lol).
This time around we are getting the pram, reversible seat, toddler seat and the capsule. We hired a capsule for DD as we weren't sure if she would like it or not - turns out she loved it but getting a capsule in Darwin sometimes is like getting blood from a stone so we're planning ahead for this one!
So we'll sell the Strider (probably keep the bassinet in case bub #2 is small too and the cot is a bit big for a while) and the upgrade to the Strider Plus! So excited!! lol
Do you mean the City Elite, or the new City Select?
I am currently looking at the City Select, and I would def pick it over the Strider for me. The Strider is bigger, heavier and wider and also I think the wheels are too firm for my area (hilly and often unmade paths, and I do walk a fair bit)
But I think that is where you need to look at where you will be using it - long walks on rough terrain, or mainly shopping centre trips and visits to the coffee shop? Hopefully that will start to make it clearer as to what is more suitable for you.
Good luck - it isn't an easy decision, and it is a piece of equipment that you will use alot!
I have the City Elite and I think it is the SHIZZ too (thanks Skybie, I liked that one!)
Quickest fold of ALL TIME....biggest shade EVER MADE....is really sturdy, and has all things in place for baby #2. Not sure if it is wider or relatively the same as the Strider....main difference is really the price I guess.
I am glad I got mine....it's great in Singas....I have bought a capsule for it for the baby, so I can strap the little one into Taxis, and I will get the new skateboard for it for Max....as he already is over the weight limit for the toddler seat.
Max is 2.5 and he still fits in it really well....can fall asleep in there still and there is loads of room for him.....his head doesn't bash the top or anything.
I couldn't recommend it enough (or any other BabyJogger pram for that matter )
