I just had a d and c on friday i understand that you are more fertile after having a misscarriage or a d and c. Does anyone know if that is true and how long do you truely have to wait to have sex after a d and c

You've come to the right place here at BB, even though it is under such sad circumstances, there are soo many wonderful people here who can support you and give you advice when you need it. In answer to your questions: Yes, you are considered more fertile in the cycles following a d&c (Up to 3 cycles post d&c I believe), because everything has been given a good clean out and when the lining of the uterus regrows it is richer and more full of blood vessels than it was before.
In my experience (which is 5 years old as I had my d&c back in jan 2005) Doctors generally prefer you to wait approx 2-6 weeks before having sex again to reduce the risk of getting an infection/post-op-complication, although other doctors will tell you that you are good to go as soon as the bleeding clears up. Personally, I'd ask your doctor if I were you, as not only is it important to do everything you can to prevent any complications post-op, you also need to take care of yourself and give your body a chance to recover from both it's loss and the d&c which is a rather invasive procedure.

thankyou for all the replys like i said i had my d and c on friday and afterwards had so many questions but my dr went on vaction this week and the nurse praticor and i are not as close as me and the dr are. He wants me to wait 4 to 6 weeks before we do anything. But i want to try as soon as possible it took a year of trying for me to even to get pregnate
My doctor advised me to wait 2 weeks to have sex again and to wait until I had a period before TTC again following a d & c (due to a blighted ovum).
Like you, it had taken me a year of TTC to get pregnant the first time, so I did not want to wait any longer! It took 6 weeks for me to have a period after the d & c and 6 months to become pregnant again. The pregnancy went smoothly this time.
It only took 3 months of TTC for me to become pregnant with my second child - the length of time TTC seems to vary enormously. Fingers crossed for a short wait for you next time.
