    Smile Any ultrasound experts?

So I had an ultrasound this morning, and I asked the technician to have a little peek to see if she could guess what this bean is. She said, well really it's too early, but she looked anyways. And there was a definite bump there - sort of a triangle with a small bump on top. Baby was measuring 15 weeks.
What does that sound like? Any indication one way or the other, or is that not really any clue at all? We'll be having a 3D ultrasound done hopefully, later on to be sure, but I'd love to have some clue. So, what do you think? I'd post a pic if I had one, but I just got a nice profile shot to take home.

Hmmm i'm not sure. Did she give you any indication of what that meant? I would think it sounds like a little fella you have there. When we had our 20 week scan they said it doesn't look like there is any boy bits and then when i had a scan a couple of weeks ago she said. yep def a hamburger down there, referring to the typical 3 lines they look for if it's a girl.

Good luck. Sounds to me like you could be getting a little man though.. YAY!!!

Well, I've done a bit of googling, and the pics I've seen of BOY ultrasounds look quite a bit like what I saw this morning. I'm not buying blue yet, but I am getting kind of excited about the prospect of a boy. We'd be totally thrilled with another little girl too, of course. I love my baby girls, and it would mean a LOT less shopping if I had another girl, but a boy would be pretty neat. DH would love to have a son. He says though if it is a boy he's going to have to wonder if it's his, since he's pretty sure he can only make girls now.
I guess we'll have to see what the 20 week ultrasound and the 3D ultrasound say, but I am kind of hopeful.

Hey Mrs. Hendo - how are things going for you? Any more contractions/leaking? Take good care of yourself and that little bean! Hopefully she stays put for another couple of weeks anyways. All the best!

Tanya, I was going to try to upload the profile pic, but I can't figure it out. Can you give me a clue as to what sort of thing to look for?

cricket i am thinking we are keeping the same hours atm lol!! have you put your pic onto Facebook i can talk you through how to upload that..lol

Otherwise, i think what you are looking for is a bud that points upwards around where the gender determination area is!!! Lol

apparently with a girl there can still be this at early stages but it doesn't point upwards i think....

Cricket, go into your "user profile", then on the left had side there is a list of links, under networking click on "pictures & albums". Here click "add an album", it will bring up a screen so you can name your album and give it a discription, keep it a public alum so we can see your pics. After creating the album you can upload pics into it. When you pic is uploaded we can go to your profile and have a look

I've noticed that myself, Mrs. Hendo - only thing is, I'm in Canada. It's daytime here, and I'm supposed to be awake. You, I think, are not. Got to love pregnancy insomnia!
Thanks for the info on the photo album Tanya! I'll give it a shot when I have more time - got to run to get my DD from the bus now.

I required a scan at 16 weeks and the sono said you can def see what gender the baby is. They told me boy and this was confirmed with my 20 week scan.

I agree with with the girls there is defintiely 3 lines, I picked it at the start of the scan and when the sonographer did the gender check at the end it was definitely a girl that was at the 20 weeks scan.

It sounds like it could be indicative of a boy, but it will be interesting to see what bubba turns out to be!

Absolutely no gender clues at all... Doh!

But what you are describing sounds boyish, but if your sonographer didn't say anything then it is really hard to say because girls can be quite swollen at this stage and if they scan at a certain angle gilrs can look like boys.

Won't be long now and you will know either way

Well, the sonographer said it was too early to tell, and she wouldn't make any predictions, especially in my case, lol, but she said "well, there is something there...." And to me it did look like the "turtle sign" that people talk about. Definitely not three lines. Time will tell I guess. Hopefully my 20 week u/s will give a better picture. All my babies, except my first, have been too modest to give anything up at the 20 week scan.
But I am curious too as to what these gender clues might be - can you give us some tips? And thanks a lot for having a peek at my pictures.

Google "gender nub" Cricket, you'll see u/s photos that describe the gender clues Tanya is talking about.

It sounds very possible it's a boy though, boys aren't as shy as girls LOL!
