    labour 13 wks too early

Hi all; (mods please move if wrong area!)

So I just found out my SIL has gone into labour and she still has 13wks to go.

I can't remember what bubs chances of survival are?

But more so at the moment I am wondering what the drs will do..... Can anyone please help me?

I have no idea if her water broke, or if its contractions, but they have taken her from the sunshine coast to the mater hospital, so Im thinking the labour must be fairly advanced, but I dont know......

Bubs should be fine being born this early. Its amazing what technology is like nowadays.

My friend had her baby 14 weeks early and while yes her bub was a very sick little girl for a few months she is now a beautiful 3 year old.

I wish your SIL all the best.

    Keep us updated

They have amazing things now they can do for babies born early. I believe they will try and save a baby from 24 weeks ( if i am wrong i dont mean anything bad by it ) I hope your friends baby is ok

I don't know what the odds are, but they certainly will do everything they can to save bub. Shell1, I think you're right, I think they do try and save bub from 24 weeks onwards.
Sending lots of prayers to your SIL that they were able to stop labour

    Thanks for the replies.

SIl gave birth a couple of hrs ago, She is 850g, 36cms long and apparently has the lungs of a 30wk gestation bub... So far she doesnt have a name, but everyone seems to be doing fine.

At this stage they are thinking she will stay in brisbane for a few weeks than move to the nearest hospital. So Im off to meet my niece in the few weeks!
