Well a little about me for those who don't yet know me...
I am 24, married and just had my 2nd baby girl. Hadley Maree came into the world on Tues 4 May, the day before my EDD (well my first EDD according to AF was 4/5, but was changed due to u/s dates). I also have a 2.5 y/o Tiera who is very much in love with her baby sister. I feel so blessed to have 2 gorgeous little girls.
I look forward to getting to know you all, when you join me!!
Ooh Pish, I'm so excited to see a post in what will be my Baby Buddies group, when this little one decides to make an appearance!! Congrats once again on the arrival of Hadley, it's so adorable that Tiera is so in love with her!
im also in here now, my name iks Tracey and i had my second baby girl on 5th may, via csection elective,
i also have a 6.5yr old daughter and i am married and been with my man for 13yrs.
i am 27yrs old
Can I join in here? Technically I am not meant to be, Phoebe was born on April 30 but I don't want to leave my group! Anyway she is going well, feeding, eating and sleeping like she should be. I am even coping with the many wake ups a night pretty well.
Another gate crasher if you'll have me......I'm only out by 9 days and I don't want to leave you guys
I can't believe my little munchkin is nearly 3 weeks old already, so far she's been a textbook baby - sleeps like a dream and after going down around at night (10.30-12.00 depending on day fed times) she's usually down for a minimum of 4hrs, her best stretch being 6hrs. I'm trying not to jinx myself but so far so good.
She's a real booby monster and can go from sleeping beauty to a thrashing hysterical mess in about 10 secs when she wakes up and realises mum's milk bottles are close by.
Question for you guys breastfeeding - how many pooey nappies do you get a day? I'm getting them nearly every nappy change - I was hoping for a baby on the 2-3 a week time schedule lol but she is putting on weight (190gms in 6 days) and midwives & child health nurse don't seem concerned.

Phoenix- We get pooey napppies nearly every change as well. Sometimes more than once a change! LOL Yay on the sleeping. At the moment we are happy with the 3 hour stretches we get.
Can I gate crash too?! I love our BellyBuddies group and can't bear to leave you guys!!
AFM: Kaylee was born April 21st.
She feeds 4 hourly, sleeps most of the time in between (though we are having more awake time now!) and has been a joy.
I have however discovered (much to my absolute devastation!) that anything chocolate flavoured or containing chocolate causes colic for her (a common problem, but I managed to avoid it with boyo, and given I'm a chocoholic, its a lifestyle change!!).
We've also discovered (though it needs more investigation) that she MAY have developmental hip displasia...I was born with shallow hip sockets, my sis with dislocated hips....I asked the hospital to check her hips thoroughly but they seem to have missed the fact that she has a "click" in her left hip when its moved (Yay for the MCHN discovering it!), so we have to go to the Dr friday (soonest appt I could get with our GP) to get a referral for an ultrasound to get it checked...if it shows up, its likely that she'll have to wear a splint for a few months....
I'd better go, boyo was up spewing last night, and has just woken, and Little Lady wants a feed!
Please do crash our thread you guys! Lol, look at me, I haven't even had mine yet and I'm on here
BW - Really hope Kaylee's hips are okay and she doesn't have to wear a splint. Ooh, big bummer about the chocolate, that would kill me too! Are you sure that's what it is? I'm not too certain about what colic really is, is it like reflux?
Phoenix - Wow she sounds like a good sleeper, good feeder...hope she stays that way for you!
Marni - Glad to hear Phoebe is going well too. I think April 30 is definitely close enough to be in here, you're on the cusp anyway!
Traylee - Great to see so many of our Belly Buddies in here, can't wait to join you all in here officially, lol.
He he, I've already posted twice in here and my baby is still all snuggled up inside. I feel a bit like I'm cheating. But it'll be all legitimate soon enough!
HI everyone, I did a massive post and lost it all :-(
I assume everyone already knows who I am but for the benefit of any others joining us, Im Hayley, Im 29 and I had my little boy Hunter Cruz on 4th May 2010 (my original due date by ultrasound) weighing in at 3.515kg and a length of 52cm. Ater a long labour I was glad he finally had made his grand entrance. After a rough first few days, with bub not being able to feed (not having the sucking reflex) and a drop in weight of more than 10% I made the decision to move us to formula and we are both doing so well now. We are bonding well and I couldnt ask for a better little baby, feeding 4 hourly during the day and sleeping between 4-6 hours in the night - I am blessed! Fingers crossed things keep up this way.
I am soooo in love with my little munchkin! Look forward to sharing our new journey of being mummy together x
I am happy to say that Phoebe has had a much better day today! I have discovered that chocolate and her do not mix. Gives her nasty belly pains that we really can't get rid of easily. I feel awful when I can't make my bubba feel better. So after very little sleep yesterday and sleeping on my chest until 5.30am this morning she has slept heaps better today!
We are going to get her weighed tomorrow but I am positive she is putting on weight. The only thing that concerns me is that she has the hiccups 4-5 times a day. Anyone elses babies?
Marni: You could try getting some "Brauers Colic Relief" from the Chemist...Chocolate and Kaylee don't mix either, but the brauers really helps...I think it helps her relax...I used it the other night after Kaylee screamed with wind for 6 hours...she relaxed, went to sleep and spent the night ripping out farts that I could hear on the baby monitor!!! (but she slept through it!)
As for her hips...I'm a bit peeved...
We went to the Dr, got the referral only to find out that there are only 3 places in Melbourne that can ultrasound infants....I called one place and was told they only did them on Tuesdays, and that next week and the one after are fully booked...I thought I'd try my luck and see if there had been any cancellations for today...and as I was on the phone SOMEONE CANCELLED! I was stoked.
So we trotted off and had it done.
When I got there the chick asked me why we were having it done so early, given that she is (adjusted age) only like 3 days old...I told her that there was a family history of hip issues in girls and that 2 professionals had picked it up (in fact the Dr found a click in BOTH hips not just one).
She told me it was pointless doing it today really because she's so young, but she did it anyway.
She asked if they were dislocated and I said no....
She then proceeded to tell me that both are "immature" and would be better off done at 6 weeks, and that they both show shallow hip sockets....But they are not dislocated (Nice one woman, I just told ya that!)
She kept insisting that it'd need to be done again, but like DH and I said...the sockets are developed...even in 6 weeks they won't be any deeper, the whole joint is just going to have gotten bigger, the structure itself is still going to be shallow...dumb woman!
SO...I have to call the Dr tomorrow and see what she thinks, but she's likely to refer me on (if not, she will cause I'm gonna request it!), cause I would rather start the ball rolling and get another scan in 6 weeks if we need to, rather than sit on it for 6 weeks and find we could be already fixing the whole thing...
Oh and I forgot to ad in my first post, Kaylee was 3.170 (6lb 15oz) at birth, 46cm long, head circ 34cm.
At her 2 week check she was 3.290kg (she lost 90g before we left hospital), and 50cm long.
friends! I feel like I am coming home seeing all of you again.
For anyone that doesn't know me I am 30 (turning 31 in 4 days time - scary thought that one) and DH and I have just had our first baby, a boy named Bosley. He was born on his EDD, 3 May by unplanned c/s after labouring and a few little complications. He weighed 2.91kg and was 48cm long with a head circumference of 34cm.
Boz had lost 180g when we were discharged but I'm sure he's put on weight since then, judging by how often he feeds! It's been every 2-3 hours until last night, which has been a killer and the sleep deprivation had me feeling very hormonal. He is quite windy, so after changing, feeding and burping, I was getting no more than an hour's break between feeds! Since last night we've had several 4-5 hour breaks between feeds, which is better for sleep (though BB's are soooo sore by then!)
BW - Sorry to hear about Kaylee's hips, especially the hassles with the ultrasound. Why is is that most ultrasound people seem to be absolute %$*$%#'s?
Marnikat - Bosley gets the hiccups after almost every feed and sometimes in his sleep. I believe it's normal.
SSMumsy - You sound smitten with your little lady! Formula seems to be working for you so well done for making the right choice.
Phoenix - Yep, another baby that poos with almost every feed. Sometimes Boz poos before and after a feed - I was kinda hoping for a once-a week pooer too...
Got a few quiet minutes while little miss has gone down for a nap - gone are the newborn days of eat, sleep & poop, there is some awake time now after daytime feeds which is nice but she can get over-tired and cranky pretty quick
Oh for introductions for anyone new joining - I'm Naomi and I'm 34 (just), April is now a very expensive time for DH, my birthday, our wedding anniversary and now our little miss Alycia's birthday too lol. Our suprise pink bundle was born on the 22nd April at 3.20pm after being induced 10 days early due to reduced fetal movements - took us by bit of a surprise as I went in for routine 38 week check up and was booked in for next morning at 7.30am, but after a quick 5 hour labour she arrived safe & healthy with the help of vontouse.
Marni - Another hiccuper here after every feed, she used to have them all the time while in the womb too. Cool tip the midwives gave me in hospital is to stick them back on the boob for a few sucks gets rid of them everytime.
BW - Good to hear you found out about the hip problem so early but a bummer the u/s lady was such a b*tch. I'd stick to my guns too and demand treatment starts now as you know there is a problem and not wait another 6 weeks. A is another power farter, amazing what comes out of those little bodies, we can hear her from our bedroom without a baby monitor lol though she is just across a small landing and not far from us and we have both doors open but we still get a giggle out of it everytime.
Jleigh - glad to hear your recovering well from the c/s. Yeh A is a champion pooer can be before, during & after each feed lol and here I was thinking 2-3 a week would be easy to cope with but now I get excited if I just have a wet nappy lol. Re the dummy I don't want to use one but have occasionally the past week mainly if we are out or in the car and she gets cranky for a feed, the dummy can buy us 10-15mins until I can feed her.
Hello to Pish, Traylee, Erin ( ) and anyone else I've missed.
Well seems we had our first bout of arsenic hours last night but after a bath & last feed she finally settled down at 10.30 and slept with just one feed at 3.00 until 7.30.
Ahhh she seems to be stirring and working up to a scream....have a great day ladies with your little bundles everyone
JLeigh: Yup, we've got a dummy in our house....I have been using it since Kaylee was about 6 hours old. I suspected in advance that she would follow in Boyo's footsteps and have reflux (I was right!), the sucking helps her remain relaxed, and also helps her swallow the stuff thats coming up her throat a little. She seems happy with it, and we are too....also she was a finger sucker in utero, and still attempts to get her fingers in, I'd rather she have a dummy as we can eventually get rid of a dummy, but can't chop off her fingers!!!
I dunno what it is about u/s people being tossers, but it certainly seems to be a common issue!
AFM: nothing to report really..Kaylee went down at 5:30 yesterday arvo, woke at 9:45 for a feed, then again at 1am (took a while to get her wind up after that), then through til 6, then I woke her at 10 for her next one.
She's asleep at the moment, but I expect her to wake shortly for the next one!!!
Better go sort out dinner before she (and boyo) are up!
Hello everyone...I finally got onto the baby buddies forum....lol
Wow, how great is it in here? Seems to jsut be us belly buddies anyway....lol..thats nice!
i keep going back to the belly group to see how our other ladies are doing....sending them lots of labour vibes too!
As for anyone new in here, my name is Cassandra, I am 30 (almost 31) and have just had my little man 4 days ago...on Mothers Day! First one in Brisbane! I have 3 older boys (yes - all boys) 12, 8 and nearly 3. Elijah john arrived early on Sunday the 9th May, at 1.09am. We had 3 previous m/c before little Elijah, trying hard to conceive him. Now he is finally here, and we just love him so much!
We are breast feeding, doing well, and using a dummy too...wow it's a life saver in the wee hours of the morning! However I had forgotten about being careful in what i eat, as I had steak the other night with jalapeno sauce, and tuna with chilli on sandwiches yesterday...and gave him a night full of wind pains last night, so I am pretty tired today! Actually very tired! And as for the poos- almost every feed - sometimes in between too! I hate waking him up to change him, he hates the cold wipes!
Anyway, just thought I would come in finally and see who else was in here...lol. So tired, going to try and have a nap now.....
Hi Girls!
Just a quickie from me for now.
The outfit little lady is wearing in the photo is actually just a bright green grosuit from target, and the "shell" off her turtle toy.
I bought the turtles from Build a Bear workshop last year in preparation (they were discontinued and I managed to get the last 2), the shell is removable (and won't be used anyway!) so I put her in the grosuit, and sat the shell on her back!
I took the pics on my iphone in hospital when she was about 36 hours old!!
Oh and Sleepy be careful of chocolate too, its a very common colic causer (Im sure you know!), it really affects Kaylee (buggeration is all I can say!).
Also as for cold wipes...we have a wipes warmer (extravagant I know), we got it for $50 at Toys R Us, we had it for Benjamin because I used reuseable cloth wipes (and they are soooooo cold!), but is perfectly safe for store bought wipes too, it makes changing a little less guilt creating!
