1 teste not descended....same experiences please reply

My ds has a teste that is just not willing to descend properly. It occasionally pops down when he is really warm and relaxed, but then pops back up again. We've been keeping an eye on it from birth and have been told to reevaluate at 1 year. Well, it's been a year and I'll be taking him to the dr soon.

Just wanted to know if anyone else has had the same experience with their sons, and if so, what action was taken?

    Thanks in advance

My brother had an undescended teste - massively so, and it was operated on when he was 2. His scar is no longer visible.

Also, a little guy that I work with just had surgery at 16 months to bring down his left teste. It was mild, sounds much more like your DS. He had to fast from 5am, I think, and he was grumpy in the afternoon after the procedure, but from the following day you'd hardly know anything had happened. He was on baby Panadol for the first day, but then he was on his own. The wound looked epic - completely purple, very bruised, but he didn't complain about it at all - and he is a kid who will complain!

    Hope that's helpful. Good luck.

Nellnell - we have an appointment with our paed tomorrow for the same problem with DS. They have been aware of the problem since birth and basically we've had to wait to see if it would correct itself, which it hasn't. I'll let you know what happens tomorrow. The MCHN seems to think he'll have to have it 'glued' in place which sounds awful but she said it is quite straight forward. Her son had it done at age 7, so she said it is much better to get it done when they are little, and have no concept of what's going to happen.
DS has been telling everyone that he has to go see the 'docor' who is going to look at 'his really big willy'.... Hmmm only 2 and already a typical male

My eldest was the same but our GP told us to wait and see if it dropped by itsself by the time he turned 2. Thankfully it did.

Ours was the opposite - both were descended at birth and at every check til the last one where one had gone back up. Mchn did somehing and it came back down. But should I be worried that it could happen again?

Thanks all for your replies so far. I didnt realise that it was often left until bubs was much older, ie a child.

mrscricket - I'd love to hear how you go. Love the comment about the big willy. Aren't most males the same!? hehe

Audax - Aww the poor little fella, I'm hoping I dont have to go through that, I think I'd be a bigger sook than my DS

Vixstar - awesome that it came down by itself. I was hoping that this would be the case with DS too. Maybe time will tell.

Pandora - How old is he? Maybe if it hasn't happened again, then it is unlikly to in the future. Not sure.

Just a quick update. Went to a paed surgeon about a week ago. Both testes are now kind of floating, and come down occasionally but not enough. We're reviewing things in 6 months to see if we do anything further
